This baby came into my dealership in early 2009, about when the GLK debuted. Pictures were taken by my friend David.
Side note: David's got a black 01 SR5: I painted the wheels gunmetal gray, installed a K&N intake with drycharger, clear corners, energy sway bar end link bushings, replaced the radio, and added some AVS window visors. 3rd gens are the shit!

As terrible as it is, I have to admire the dedication that it had to have taken to complete. The detail is pretty impressive. Imagine if that guy were to put that energy into... well anything.

I must be from the wrong generation. What is the point of this? Is there a time warp portal they are hoping to hit at just the right speed?

I think at some point it goes from cool to making fun of themselves. If you go that far you know it is just crazy and enjoy the looks people give you and enjoy the attention. I would also have a feeling it is not their primary car, something they drive around for fun and laughs from time to time....I seriously would hope everything above is true.....if not the world is in trouble.

You actually MAY be from the wrong generation to appreciate this--it's all about Star Wars and their X-Wing fighter that used R2 droids (the dome) in the back to fix things as they got shot up. Yeah, the cars are tacky, but there actually IS a method to the madness! I guess the Force isn't with you (LOL).

You're right. I'll take your word on the method and madness. I did see the movie when it first came out but I don't remember the details (sometimers is kicking in.) I'm not a trekkie but I stopped watching SciFi shows when the original Star Trek with Kirk, Spock and gang was cancelled.
