Thai, I know you are kidding, but I didn't mean the older generation of the G-class. I don't like the brand new design coming out (the one that looks like the new generation ML). I saw one of the new ML's in front of an MB dealer and they are ugly!

Oh ok...whew, i was THIS CLOSE "<-->" to the ban button! I agree with you on the new one. But, to tell you the truth, my G-wagen is a love-it or hate-it car. My girlfriend does not think too highly of it...my parents hate it. So, trust me, i am pretty much immune to criticisms of my SUV....it's so common i am used to it!

How can your girlfriend hate a G-wagen?

I'd loved it since Europa International was importing it in the 1990s.

Just don't have $100,000 burning a hole in my pocket to throw at it. But golly, it is a real SUV.

Back then it was called the Galenderwagen.......

Along with the Rover Defender 110, the Landcruiser, and the Range Rover, the G-wagenis really the quintessential SUV.

Just have it in NATO green, brush guards, maybe fabricatre an outside cage for it like the Defender 110, Gustav Holst, Planets, Mercury, God of War....that would be appropirate music.....

My gf thinks that it's too boxy D) and too high off the ground! I am still trying really hard to explain her the virtues of SUVs.

BTW, i just spent this past weekend in my brother's Toyota Sienna (2005)...it is one nice long trip car! It is so smooth, so much room inside, so many little nooks & crannies to store things, and so good on gas. Minivan is not a bad option at all for a big family.

when you say "Galenderwagen".....it comes out "GALENder VAGEN"---and you straighten up and click you heels at the end of the syllables "VAGEN", right?

MY very close friend is German and she tried to teach me to say it right.....with little success.....but it just has that poly-syllabic sound that sounds so good when yelling at someone.....no other language sounds so good when used to upbraid someone....

The GX470 has a good looking frontend but the profile and rear don't look right and the longer I look at them the more I dislike them (they look like a girls SUV) sorry that is how they hit me.

I would have to agree. It looks like the thing is going to roll over the first corner it hits. The additional head room just doesn't do it for me.

I liked the GX470 when it first came out, but the more I see them the more disportional they appear. Too low to the ground and then they have this gigantic top. Looks goofy.
