Reviving this thread: Just bought 2017 TRD Off road and the sound system sucks. I do not/will not replace the head unit. I want it to remain stock. Entune-non jbl. I want to replace all speakers, add a 5 channel amp, and add a small subwoofer. What all will I need to accomplish this? Thanks! Seems as though it is not as simple as I originally had planned.

Look into taco tunes. They should have what you are looking for and alot of their stuff is plug n play.

I paid a pro to do mine, as I wanted to keep the stock head unit and all the features too. He used an audio signal controller to tap into the sound, then ran all new speakers with custom brackets here and there, a few extra tweeters, and a custom sub box with a 10" on the rear side panel. I can now blow my ear drums out quite easily, so I'm happy.
You wouldn't know it until you get in and I turn it up, or you see the box in the back.
But now I'm ready for 4 - 15's.... :lalala::lalala:

Hi level wiring for sub
Couple questions hope someone can help. Bought a 2018 TRD and replaced the speakers. I have a sub I want to install, my amp is a kicker which has Hi-Level input and tried to hoop up the amp with the rear speakers wiring with no luck.
1. Tailgate and rear door speakers have to be all plugged (left or right side) for them to work. Why?
2. Which wires should I Tap for Hi-Level input to the amp?
3. What are these extra wires in the rear door?

2. Which wires should I Tap for Hi-Level input to the amp? Try tapping the front speakers. The stock HU might be cutting bass to the rear speakers.
3. What are these extra wires in the rear door? Not sure, possibly camera, license plate lights?

I got the rockford fosgate dsr1 with the maestro wire harness, just unplug from the stock amp, plug in the harness, to the amp harness, and then the other end goes into the dsr1 and 4 channel texas with dsp all app controlled with my phone. Those rcas go to a sundowner 1800.5d under my passenger seat. I put jl audio 6x9 separate in my front doors and dash, and hertz 5.5 in the rear door and tailgate.. wired up the sundown audio and again using the wire harness idea the stock wires through the harness into ch1-4 if the amp, and turned the gain way down, as the app at 2ohms says 200watts/ch rms and those speakers only take 130 rms, the fifth channel on that amp is actually a monoblock class d amp and stable down to one ohm so I got the sundown audio 12 in the box from down4 sound.com. with the dual 2ohm voice coil and ran that with the 5th channel pushing 1000w into it, and that was a lot more than I expected!! The hertz are the cleanest speakers I've ever heard, and the sundown amp actually puts out like 240w/ch on 1-4 and the 5th is close to 1200w (that's all rms) and that sub, moved about 4 inches with three box tuned to 31hz it takes my breath away, and it's just one sub.. so that's my suggestion. Oh and under the passenger seat next to the amp I put a 2farad cap.

Audio Control LC2i with Stock non/JBL
Sorry for bringing back an old thread but i've been reading this one and Antman's post trying to figure out the best way to hook up an Audio Control LC2i to a 2021 4Runner SR5 with the non JBL head unit. I will be connecting the LC2i to a CTSounds CT-700-10 AMP and then to a 12" Sub.
I was trying to figure out the best place to tap into the speaker wires for the LC2i and hoping to not have to pull the dash and head unit out. Is there an easier way to tap into speaker wires maybe in the pillar or kick plates?

I had planned to pull the side B-pillar panels and grab the rear door speaker wires there, but after reading above maybe the stock head unit pulls bass at higher volume levels and makes the amp and sub seem muddy at higher volume. I might still try it, that should be the easiest place to get them with the amp being under the passengers front seat.
Otherwise the head unit is not hard to get out, pull the two side panels off the A/C knobs and then the A/C controller and you expose 4 - 10mm bolts. Remove those 4 bolts and then the head unit pulls straight out.
Bottom passenger side plug is the rear speaker wire plug i think its purple and pink and white and black ect. Thats the rear door and tailgate speakers. You can have the head unit out in like 3 minutes or less, plus the first wide white plug on the passengers side, there is a pin i believe its a black wire that is 12v ACC power if you need it to run an amp. Its the wide plug, on the bottom of the head unit, that is closest to the passengers side. I belive its the bottom pin, closest to the passengers side that is 12v ACC when key is on. That should be able to be used for a remote wire for the amp. So if you gotta get to it, may as well pull the radio and tap the rear speakers right there too. There is plenty of room to stuff wiring behind the radio.

I found this pinout diagram on the forum from luppercut, but I don't believe it shows the rear speakers in this diagram. Do you know if the Front speakers are a full range speaker that would work ok for the LC2i to tap into and grab the lows needed for the amp and subwoofer?
Also - is it worth buying this kit from TacoTunes or just splice and roll with it?

I can't speak for that kit but I really liked the PAC harness in my wife's Highlander. Tons of options if you end up adding an amp to the other speakers. PAC LPHTY02 LocPro Advanced T-Harness T-harness for adding an aftermarket amplifier to select 2018-up Toyotas without a factory amp at Crutchfield
Many report the dreaded bass roll off/all pass filters from the stock signal. The accubass function of the LC2i should help somewhat but to what degree I can't say.
I considered adding a kicker key 200.4 amp, remote turn on with speakers. From what I gathered I needed the following to do so:
