Successful 5th Gen Key fob swap!

Thanks to multiple threads in this forum for making this happen! I now have a much lighter key chain. 30$ key + .75 to have it programmed.

EDIT: It seems like some are getting a key with the logo and some without. If you get a key without and you are not happy with it (like I would be) here is a link for a shell WITH a logo thats less than $5. Again, this is a shell ONLY.

I ordered a two-pack of keys off of eBay. I got an e-mail that they shipped out today.

Both of my original key fobs broke right at the loop.

I'll report in \when they get here.
 
Anybody had any success doing this on an older 4Runner? (pre 2006). I have an 04 and I'm pretty sure my key fob has a different frequency or something. I've been told it won't work. Would love to do this though.
 
That's actually a Corolla/Camry Key I believe, the factory keys for 5th gens look exactly like that but have no button for the rear window. Either way, good to see that it works!
 
Mine was successful. I paid $57 for two keys from eBay.

I bought them Sunday and got the keys on Wednesday. Coast to Coast in 3 days.

The key guy at Lowes cut it for free.

I programmed the remote and the key.

The key machine left a sharp shoulder on the new key. It unlocked the driver door but wouldn't turn in the ignition (or in the back hatch).
I went back into Lowes and he knocked it down with a file and all is good.

This is for a 2003 V6 SR5

Maybe? I honestly don't know... there was a question about key fobs a while back and a couple people including myself weren't 100% it would work due to different FCC IDs and/or coding... I don't have a bunch of extra non-programmed Toyota key/fobs to play with...
 
Thanks for the reply. Is there a better choice?

I was going to use a small washer and embed that when I rebuild the loop.
 
So doing this. I'm thankful for the keyless entry but my keychain is huge. I have a corolla/camry fob I found and I am going to test it out before I try it to be sure. Hallelujah for T4R.ORG!

Do you have a pic of the back of your new key? Does it have the Toyota Logo? Does the quality seem good?
