Thanks for the reply- The auction said it would work, but I was skeptical. The fcc id was okay- according to the auction, but I think they may have sent me the wrong one. No 'dot' on the one pictured.

The one I was sent was nice though. The auction said it was blank, but it had a t logo and looked oem.

The dot on the key blank is for the transponder that starts the engine. The FCCID is for the keyless entry. The first remote I got did the same thing. They sent a second and it was programmable. Once I knew the remote worked I programmed the transponder. Once both of those were working I had the key cut. I wanted to be sure I could return it if either the remote or transponder couldn't be programmed.

In regards to the key, sometimes even at the dealer, the new keys are filed and/or deburred properly and can be "sticky" in the cylinder and not work right. Also I have noticed SOME key cutting machines, again even at the dealer, don't all cut the same and sometimes do not reproduce smooth valleys and hills like the factory keys. I don't know why that is.

Well my fob took a crap today. Just stopped working with no warning. I had put a dab of hot glue on it last weekend to hold the battery in place, but now it looks like the battery has died.

I too had to superglue my battery into place. The seller swapped the correct chip for me and sent it back today. Programmed right up but after driving it once the remote wasn't working anymore. Knew the battery was brand new so when i got home I superglued it in place and seems to work fine now.

One issue I did notice, not sure if anyone else has found this to be true as well, is that my panic button doesn't work correctly. Instead of having to hold it down for a few seconds, if I click it once it goes off. I'm not used to this remote setup yet, and have already set it off twice by accident. Is my fob defective or is everyone's like this??

I got the first one and it programmed OK. Had it cut at a locksmith with no problems. Then ordered a second from the same ebay vendor. Second came and will not program the immobilizer. Long communication with ebay seller, pictured, requested programming method, finally sent back and received the replacement, same problem the 2-1 flash. Obviously wrong FCC code even though vendor says it will work. The first one had the chrome logo and NO sticker on the back. The replacements had the logo but with Denso stickers on the back. I will probably have to dispute this one as the vendor in not cooperating. All I want is one that works. As a side I did find this for those that had their key cut wrong. It's a replacement key and case only, for like $1.50 USD

Got my keys in, took them to the dealer, and had them cut from the vin number. 1 worked initially in the door, the other one didn't, but after the guy cleaned up the edges for burs, it worked like a charm. Now I just have to program them :wow2:

Oh, and the kid at the parts counter cut them for me for free :bounce:

Programming New Key and remote control

Search is your friend. Beyond that here are instructions that work to program the immobilizer if the new key has the right FCC id chip. One of mine did and not the other, long story with e***a-***rss vendor on ebay. If the ID is ok when you get to the part where you are waiting for it to be recognized, if it flashes one on and off you should be OK. If it flashes one on then 2 on, the ID is wrong. That is where I am with my second one. It will never program no matter even if it is only second one.
Also is instructions for programming the remote door controls.

Great write up. I have a 4th Gen 2006. I ordered 2 keys form Ebay, both came with the logos. I followed your instructions on how to program the remote. Then I took it to a local locksmith to get it cut, because Lowes and home Depot would not do it. The locksmith did not charge me to have both keys cut. Tested them both and they work great no issues.

Rats, my locks quit responding after about 3 weeks with no problems. It programmed the first time out easily. Now it will start the truck, but key buttons do nothing. Guess I'll change the battery just to be sure and try to re-program keyless entry, before I start contacting seller.

Ordered two keys from ebay vendor and was able to get them both cut for only $5 by my local locksmith. I was able to program both of them for the immobilizer but one of the keys had a button that stuck and I wasn't able to program that one to operated the door locks. I contacted the seller and he told me to ship that key back and he would send a replacement. I shipped it back on 9/13/13 and then left on vacation to California. During my vacation, the other key I was using as my primary key, stopped working. The only cause I could think of was a dead battery. So as soon as I got back home, 9/22/13, I emailed the seller and am waiting on a response for a full refund. Too much trouble and the product quality was horrible. The locksmith I had the keys cut from will sell me factory keys for only $35 each. I'd rather pay a little more to make sure I'm getting a good quality product. Buyer beware.

Does your original key has little hole on one side closer to the plastic? My FCC matches yours but people with 04 and holes on keys report it will not work, just trying to justify the purchase.

my original key does have the indent on the key before the padding.

Same thing happen to me but only lasted 2weeks...as I was in the process of changing the battery, once I open the remote it started working again...weird must be something loose inside..

mine has been doing the same thing. It will randomly stop working, but if I pop it open and removed/reinsert the battery it will work just fine. Its quite annoying.
