Sucked up some water in my intake...Should I be worried

I was going through some deep puddles today and while going through the last one my truck started to bog and misfire and some smoke out of the tailpipe. I immediately limped over to the side and confused on what had happened. Checked my Oil and other things (thought it was a head gasket) looks fine. Looked at filter and it was soaked, P0300 (misfire) code I believe poped up and let it run its course without a filter. Smoke disappeared, assuming it burned off all the water and truck is running fine now and revs fine and code disappeared. Should I be worried ? will change my oil soon didn't look to have water in it.Currently drying the filter and will buy a new one soon.

I would think if any permanent damage was done it would be immediately noticeable, since it's running fine now I think you dodged a bullet this time!

If you would have sucked up a bunch of water it will do some bad damage to the engine, pistons can't compress water very well and thus major parts get bent/broken!!

How deep. Splashed water should never get into the intake.

Must be deep because i dont have fender liners and ive been poor weather driving and for sure was going to get water sucked up the intake after hitting puddles got home checked the filter and was perfectly dry

It was pretty deep My fender liners are cut way up when I put my demello bumper on and it may have been enough to suck up some. Looking at snorkels I guess. Have never had this problem before. I believe it was just a good combo of speed that pushed it far enough up into my fender liner to get sucked in. Thanks for the replies guys.

Saw a guy at Azusa ohv area suck some water up and it was pretty bad I got home and started looking at snorkels.
