Sunroof Issue?

Hey All,

I've got a 2013 TE purchased in March and I'm having what could be an issue with my sunroof. When I tilt it up at any degree, it visibly and audibly shakes when I hit a bump/pothole/anything not flat on the road. I can move it with one finger as well.

In both of my previous cars(1992 Lexus SC400 and 2004 Infiniti G35) this never happened so I want to see if anyone else has the issue before I take it up with Toyota.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I drive around a lot with the sunroof tilted and have never noticed anything like this on my '12 TE. It seems pretty solid to me. Get thee to the dealer.

One question for you though. You can tilt yours to "any degree". Mine has one position in tilt mode, and can be stopped anywhere in open (slide) mode.

Haven't had this issue with a T4R, but I have had regular clicking noise on a 2012 Camry SE with sunroof. Dealer said they are aware of this issue with the Camry. Whether the sunroof was open or closed, regular clicking occured. Don't know if your issue is similar though.

I haven't used/opened the sunroof in a long time. But it might be that metal bar (wind deflector) that is making the noise.

I haven't had anything like that in my 4R either. It's pretty quiet when I have the sunroof up and venting. I'd take it to the dealer and see what's going on.

I'm probably assuming too much. Do you still have a warranty through a dealer?

my '12 LE makes plenty of noise when completely open. it really takes away from the experience of having the sunroof open when all you hear is rattling.

tilted up, no problem. closed, no problem.

Same for my 2013, rattles when open but not so much when tilted. I thought I had it solved with some lube on the tracks but the noise came back again. Are there adjustment screws, etc?

I hear a creaking from that area, when the sunroof is open, or just tilted. Especially when I take a corner, and get some body roll. I've learned to live with it.

My 10' rattles when vented, but silent when fully open. I hate it! I got annoyed once and while driving (not recommended) reached up and started to feel around moving/pushing/squeezing things and suddenly it went silent! It stayed that way for almost a year, not the rattle is back, arg. It was a problem on the 4ths as well from what I read when I posted my issue a while back.

I guess I've gotta take it in then, I could try to live with it but why should I? My previous two cars were solid until the day I got rid of them and the sunroof on the TE is creaking already... not happy about that.
