Super bright LED turn signal side markers installed

Wanted to share the link and new super bright LED turn signals I just put in. So after a couple close calls merging I wanted to add some turn signals but nothing extreme. I have a buddy who used these as parking lights on his jeep and I loved them. So I adapted them and they work awesome. Super easy install. All I did was take the wheel trim loose, drill a 7/16 hole, dab a little silicon around the hole, pop it in and bolt it in place, route the wire over the wheel well interior plastic up to the turn signal and tap them into the wiring. Took about 20 minutes per side and man what an easy thing that adds a ton of safety. Hope you guys like it. Here's the link to eBay. http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=301331231548

Very cool and very European.
But up here in the northern salty winter climates, I sure wouldn't drill holes in the bodywork.

Yea I had an internal debate about drilling into the side of my truck for the 3 days that it took for me to receive the lights. I am sure happy I did.

I took the inner plastic wheel well out and ran the wires along the inside of the sheet metal and up to the turn signal. I used 2 blue pinch-style connectors to tap in then wrapped them with some electrical tape. Very easy. I know the thought of drilling or cutting a hole in the side of your truck is a bit daunting. But I drive a lot in a town and it seems drivers are just becoming less attentive. Almost got side swiped twice recently and one of those put me off the shoulder even though I had used my signals. So happy with the result that I have decided to put them on my wives big ass Nissan Armada too.

Just use one of these. You can get them anywhere (Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Lowes, or you can pay more to get them at Radio Shack or a Best Buy type of place).

I'm thinking about doing this with a pair per side, one on the front and backside of the front Limited flares. Since they are abs plastic, I don't feel so bad about drilling into them. Metal, eh, not as intersted in going that route. I do love the idea!

I'm thinking about this. I like the idea of having the side markers on the flares, but not on the outermost portion of them, rather on the rounded parts so that they slightly face forward (on the front portion), and backward (obviously on the rear of the flare), so that they are more pointing towards the trouble zones. All the while, they'll still be facing enough sidways to be obvious directly from the side as well.



edit: even figuring out a way to put one on the outside of the sideview mirror would be rad. Might be worth a look.

aka Scotchlocks and they are notorious for losing the connection. If you want a permanent connection either solder and shrink tube or use a crimp connector with sealing shrink tube.

Exactly. Wiring is already running there, so another small diameter wire shouldn't cause any problems. If the threading on the light is too deep, a liltle length modification to that stem could wipe that problem out quickly. Plus, that would be far out there to be obvious, while still maintaining that somewhat factory look.

Cool Idea! I have seen a few late model high end SUVs (porsche or audi perhaps) that actually have them inside the wheel well right under the flared edge. Makes a nice high visibility turn signal for someone who is in your blind spot. Have been wanting to do this but havent gotten around to it yet.

Just give it time. It's not a matter of if, but when. I can't even think of how many of those stupid things I've removed, especially when people use them for trailer wiring.
