Super Charger - chicken out last minute

Cool. seems lots of folks have no probs with the supercharger. I too chickened out at getting it. i heard there was a lot of "fine tuning" involved to get it to run right so i backed out.

anyone see this site losts of good reading there. but that "shortcomings" part is what scared me off

so now after hearing that there are some that were able to just "bolt on" without probs and no other mods i may have to rethink it

I think if you want it to run better you can fine tune it, just like anything. But it runs fine just bolted on. I do have to run 91 octane gas or it pings a little a higher speeds. I got mine from trdparts4u.com. It was 1899, shipped. Cost for the dealer is 1849, so they're only making $50 a unit. Plus, becasue it's TRD, if you have a dealer install it, you get a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on the part AND your engine.

You should be scared. There's many more people on yotatech that have the s/c and they'll tell you what I've written is true. I also have a friend w/ a Tacoma that bought the s/c from day one and he's had issues with running too lean CEL's quite a bit. Good for you Koz but others have not been that lucky.

This thread is amazing. Why is my local dealer still selling the TRD supercharger if they were taken off the market? Or are they for the vvti 4.7 engines only? And I have the 2003 v-8 4.7 so is this why I can still install one?

Hell - I am gonna do what JoMama is doing, getting the Mercedes Sl55... that will be my speed demon - or... the damn challenger - which is looking better and better.

Well that was my truck that blew up... People can argue that the unichip was part of the problem. All in all Toyota did repair it after all my bitching. (Its probably since I am in Canada)... The charger did not have a problem from day to day driving.. and I can attest that my old '97 Runner, that I gave to my Dad, has been supercharged for 7 years, without any issues.....

For what i've been told, is that the 2004 had different rods, and where generally weaker.
