Supercharger Heat and Wheeling

I've been looking into adding a supercharger to my rig. This thought has come across my mind and wondering opinions.

I wheel in the desert.

Rock Crawling in 100+ temps. I've seen my air intake temps to 140 easy. I know the supercharger generates more heat when it compresses the air.

How is this going to effect the.. engine and supercharger.

I have noticed an increase in engine temperature by about 10 degrees when I'm really on the paddle and climbing a hill on the highway. I've got a tranny cooler with a pusher fan and I cant tell if the partial block of the radiator is causing this bump or if I'm running leaning on these hard pulls and its increasing engine temps. Usually at the top of crest it settles down back to normal. I definitely think you will see an increase in temperature with a supercharger and maybe that is why they tell you to run a cooler thermostat. I'm curious if you have a tranny temp gauge, if so, what temperatures are you encountering?

I don't have a supercharger yet. just wondering how it will take slow rock crawling in the desert. 140 degree air intake being compressed and heated up even more.


I do have a Torque app that I monitor temps with. Tranny is always high IE anything that is not flat highway is 200-220 ish. I turn the OD off alot and it helps. I've seen as high as 240 on my Tranny temps. external cooler is on the list. buy my fluid is freshly changed so really the temps just lower the life of the tranny fluid.

Engine temps really stay around 195-200. I have noticed them spike to 212 no above when under hard load going up a steep pass.

Crawling = low RPM and no boost. It will just bypass the supercharger.
