Supercharger rebuild

So I thought I'd give a report on my rebuild. My sc is in my 97 4Runner. It has about 270000 km on it. So I sent it to Stiegemeier Porting. They rebuilt the front nose. I also had them port the sc and lighten the rotors. It took two weeks to have the whole thing done. They had to send out the rotors to have them machined. Overall it seems they did a good job. The truck drive very different. It is very responsive. Throttle response is better. Just more power overall. I've only had it on for a couple of days. On the highway it is much more reposive. Overall I am happy with it. I'll need to check my tune and I still have not floored it from stand still. When I do I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm considering having Stiegemeier rebuild & port mine as well. Are there are any additional things that I should keep in mind when having this porting done? Does it directly increase the boost (and in addition require a retune?) or just make the s/c more efficient?

Were the gains from the porting noticeable and worth the cost in your opinion?

Hi the rebuild and porting went well. I was happy with the results. There was a defendant improvement. The only issue I had is that they send the sc out for porting which is fine but it took I think 2 weeks or so before they shipped it back. They were not great at communicating with me. It just took longer then I planed to have the truck out of service. In the end it all worked out. Just be aware that it's not a 3 day service. Is it worth the money. Maybe. I'd do it again every little bit helps. The truck does fly when I step on it. I don't think I did much retuning. If any. Make sure you pack the sc up well.

I don't love hearing that the communication is a bit of a concern with them- I'd prefer to have no qualms about shipping part of my truck off to them for a few weeks.

I'm stuck in between wondering whether the porting is worth it or not. It's approaching time for a rebuild anyways so this would be the time to do it, but it's a lot of money and I haven't been able to find any real #'s about the improvement porting the trd supercharger gives. From all of the experiences I've been able to find, everyone seems happy with the results, but of course it's easier to justify an expense if I can put actual performance numbers with it.

You seem to have all of the good s/c mods done to yours already so eeking every bit of efficiency out of your s/c is going to be icing on the cake. Ever had a dyno done by chance?

Hi when I was thinking of the porting I was trying like you to find some info. Spent hours looking found nothing. It's not cheap with the rebuild your almost half the price of a new sc. It's taken me years to build the engine to wear it is now. There is nothing I can do now except rebuild the block and heads. One day maybe. As to a dyno I have not had that done. I should. I did notice a difference when I first put the sc back on after the porting. From a stand still when I floor it. It moves. It's almost scary. With the 2.1 pulley I'm around 12 psi
I would do it. You only have to do it once. I'd like to have the intake manifold polished to. That might be next year. I'll see about a dyno but I'm real busy at work now so it would not be for a while
