SuperFlex for hauling?

Does anyone know how well the Superflex coils hold up for hauling? I am looking into buying an OME setup and torn between the SuperFlex coils and the 895's. I have a double axle boat trailer with a 22 foot boat and dont haul it to far, less than 20 miles at a time so it wont be under load to long. Anyone with any info that could help stear me in the right direction would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

If you pull the boat a lot I would go with a bit stiffer coil than the super flex, which I believe is in the 220 ft lb range, 250 ft lb might be better if you tow often. Or if you want to maintain a softer ride when not towing you can try some Firestone air bags with super flex coils to maintain height when towing. I had 895s, then super flex, now custom springs. You might get by with just super flex but you may sag when towing - if you add any more weight than boat, trailer I would definitely go with a beefier coil.

How well do the airbags do off-road? I dont off-road a lot but i do on occasion. Do i just download the bags and get the same performance?

I can't speak to the bags off road, always seemed like a hazard to me, but I'm sure others have done it successfully. Might want to run a search on those to see direct feedback.do you have 895s now?

No im going to be ordering my OME this weak and just looking for additional information before I order. I feel like the SuperFlex might be the way to go because it is my daily driver and I still want to maintain a decent ride. I wont be hauling everyday, maybe a couple times a month and like i said its less than 20 miles at a time and its a double axle boat trailer so that helps somewhat to not put as much weight on the hitch itself.

You just answered your own question. Get the superflex coils an get some airbags for the occasional tow each month.

Do you have a V6 or V8?

I have the V8. Do the airbags just fit in between the rear coils and does it effect off road performance? Im new to the 4Runner scene but I am in love. Came from a 98 240sx, to a WRX, to a S4 and now my beautifuly baby :-D

Yes they fit in the rear coils but they would only effect the coils flex if they were inflated. If you deflate them after towing and keep them deflated offroad, your golden.

Thanks a lot, I appriciate the info. I was looking at the Firestone bags and it doesnt say anything in the descriptions about lifted suspension. Will the bags work with the lift given from the OME with superflex or are there seperate bags for a lifted vehicle?

they are the same bags. Colemanfu runs ome 896's, i think, with air bags for his dual sport bike and it doesn't sag one bit.

Getting stiffer coils for towing isn't the solution, unless you tow 100% of the time. Airbags are the way to go. Read this thread for more info, and also note the part number to be used with the aftermarket coils.
