Superman3043's Build Thread

I saw you are planning a trip on Jan 26th. Can you tell me a little more about SC, i'm gonna see if i'm gonna have time maybe come to SC tour the city and see if i can come with you guys to wheel. Do you think my truck can go places you guys go?

What do you want to know man? The Carolina's are great! I love being here! Where I live, I'm a short drive to the mountains and a short drive to the beach. Great weather year round. Best looking women anywhere. I've been all over the world... I wouldn't rather be anywhere else.

You should come man! That would be pretty cool. If you want to meet up with me and my guys, we're all around Charlotte, NC. That's where you would want to come to hang out and see the city and night life and what not. Big city with small town charm.

Me or one of the other guys would be happy to put you up. Although, I'm just in a small apartment at the moment, you're always welcome.

My main guys are Aha2988 and Darklight. The rest of the guys joining us on the trip, we haven't met yet. There's a 5th gen from GA and a guy coming from the coast (Charleston). Gulches is about a 2 hr drive from Charlotte. Some places that we go in Gulches, you could have trouble. Our trucks are all on M/T's with full suspension and moderate armor. One is triple locked, one has a winch, so we're all pretty capable. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy the park. There are plenty of trails that you can get around the park on and they all lead into eachother. You can always spectate crazy parts or ride along. Here is the parks website. The terrain here ranges from easy to insane. Gulches can be far more difficult of a ride than Uwharrie. If this run was for Uwharrie, I'd say that you would be ok for the most part getting around there, because there is usually a bypass to all of the crazy stuff out there. But the trails at gulches are all marked and they're mainly all one way. Which is a good and bad thing. Good cause you won't ever really run into head on traffic, bad that if you get twisted up and take a wrong turn and end up on a trail above your skill level or capability... well you're pretty much committed. Ever go down a "black diamond" you didn't mean to when you were a noob on the snowboard... Yeah, sort of the same thing.

Anyway, we'd love to have you down. It'd be a great trip for sure. Any other questions you got LMK.

Thanks PD for the offer. Ill definitely let you know if I will be down. I just have to check my school schedule and work as of now I don't know the schedule. If I won't make it this time definitely some other time. I live in USA for 14 years and haven't been anywhere beside Philly NY and Minessota.

Per some requests; here are some mounted, light off shots. I've still not had good weather or seen much daylight in some time now, so I just grabbed a couple of quick shots with my phone in the parking lot this morning when I pulled in. To be honest I don't know how useful these shots would be to you guys... I mean, I mounted them the same way anybody with a steel bumper would... Pop a couple of holes and away we go:

If there is something specific that you guys would like to see, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks PD, I dunno about others but personally I really just wanted to see how the light fit in the guard. Would a 31.5" fit there you think?

Thanks man! No don't buy white, keep yours. It's more unique of a color. I'm just a sucker for white though.

Yeah, definitely let us know when you want to head this way. Should definitely venture out of your corner of the country when you've got the time. So much great stuff to see!

:flipoff: like this lol

... what a **** <--- like my filter?

This size fits perfect I'd say. I'm not really sure about the 31.5". I think footprint wise, it might just make it in... Could require turning the feet inboard. The potential issue you could run into though is the rise of the light getting into the angle of the hoop. You could possibly offset back far enough to clear, especially mine since I had the hoop pressed forward a touch. I actually wish the mounting feet were a little lower profile personally, but I understand that they designed it this way to give you the full range of adjustment to allow you to aim the light normal to the mounting surface as well as perpendicular.

Like with anything though, If a man wants to put a 31.5" light bar on there bad enough, he'll make it work :) That's just what we do.

they switched to a different server and when they did it was causing words like radiator, fan, switch, axles, to becomes links to spam or vendors to purchase. The admin had to turn off the links and when he did that it stopped any link from working he's working on it now he's posted a thread about it in the software related questions thread area.

Since we in the Carolina's were blessed with weekend temps in the mid 70's, it was a good time to get out and do something. Spent Saturday with Darklight helping him Plasti-dip his chrome door handles. At the same time, I took the time to ensure that my front end was still even and backed some caster out of my UCA's (was running a little above spec).

Then we went "squatching" and did some trail maintenance. Got to swing the ole' ax and even got to put the bull bar through it's paces by knocking down some trees with it. Worked beautifully of course.

That evening took the wife downtown to the monster truck show (Advance Auto Monster Jam) looking like this:

Sunday, I spent the morning spraying clumps of mud off the truck. Took the wife to a gun show Sunday looking like this:

Just in time to get four straight days of rain.... Of course.

Gulches run in less than two weeks!!!

dang i was hopping for more pics of the monster trucks lol. Mike an Cj went to the gun show Saturday morning and mentioned there not being that many good deals, so i opted not to venture out. You wined up picking anything cool up or just grab up some cheap ammo?

Yeah, I didn't snap too many pics of the monsters. The one on our FB of the rolled over truck was a Tundra (Thrasher). That Yota won Friday and Saturday nights "Wheelie Competition". I only have one short video on my phone and this picture... Lame.

You didn't miss anything at the gun show. I didn't see any deals, matter of fact, everything is highly inflated right now and the gun retailers are making a killing. I bought one (50 rd) box of .40 S&W since I'm totally out... $35. .22 LR is literally nowhere to be found. As far as my other stuff (9mm Luger, .45 GAP, and .50 AE), I'm good for a while if the zombies come tomorrow, but I won't be punching holes in paper any time soon with prices the way they are.

We closed Bobby's loop though. Got that one tree out of the way and a few others. Made a bypass for the "big hill". I couldn't get up this go around. Combination of slipping on those loose junk tires, soft ground, street tire pressure, and 2 passengers... Ugh, guess that means I need a locker :) The trail is straight now though! Just need to work out how we're gonna loop that one bit (the creek crossing behind his house over the rocks) back into the main trail.

cool stuff! Cj picked up 500 rounds of .40 s&w fmj so we'll be using his rounds to shoot targets haha.

thats awesome yall got that trail looped around. Just need to get my chainsaw out there probably to get that rock garden connected back like you say.

What you couldnt get it up? lol did you try out your winch??

Doh... Guess I could have went that route. It's good anyway, cause it gave me a chance to make that bypass to the left. We were gonna use the winch to pull some trees down, but we all forget our straps and nobody had a snatch block and I wasn't really interested in pulling a tree straight down onto my truck or wrapping my bare line around a tree to make a turn. The bumper worked great for pushing stuff over though.

Chainsaw would have come up big this weekend. At least we got a workout.

Had alot of fun clearing out trees and doing some trail maintenace. The bumper was put to use and worked great! Chainsaw would of made small work of the tree we chopped down but none the less was fun and a good work out. Squatching was great as always too :)
Big thanks goes out to PD (Superman3043) for helping me take apart the rear doors and removing the handles for painting!

Looks like the moster truck jam was small man! I'm sure it was fun though. Did you get your alignment and top nut trq checked? I never found the mystery screw from the headlamp bracket.

Bobby

Bobby

So how are them handles holding up? You happy with how it turned out? So glad we took our time and did it the right way.

Monster trucks was crazy small! How you gonna have a monster truck rally on a basketball court?? It was a blast though.

I did the alignment. Everything looks but I still want to back that caster adjustment down one more, back to neutral where you and Austin have it. I'm running in spec, but still on the high side. That adjustment should put me perfect. I grabbed Kirby's torque wrench on the way home but didn't get the socket.... Whoops. Oh well, I'm not too worried about it. I hulked out on those things at your house pretty good, so if they where loose I'm pretty sure that shake down we did on the trail would have made it apparent.

I totally forgot about that headlight screw. Guess I'm gonna have to go find one.

My handles turned out great! I love the way they look and the rubbery grip they have now. I was concerned about the 3 days of straight rain after a day of curing but I think they will hold up! I cleaned the 4Runner on Sunday just in time for the rain, lol.

That's funny about the basket ball court sized arena for a monster truck show!

I think we muscled that top nut on pretty good but I would still double check the trq on it. Oh yeah I forgot bout your small bolt holding the abs wire on the uca arm getting snapped off by Superman, lol. If you need a hand replacing it let me know and if you want to adjust the uca's again come on by.
