Superman3043's Build Thread

My handles turned out great! I love the way they look and the rubbery grip they have now. I was concerned about the 3 days of straight rain after a day of curing but I think they will hold up! I cleaned the 4Runner on Sunday just in time for the rain, lol.

That's funny about the basket ball court sized arena for a monster truck show!

I think we muscled that top nut on pretty good but I would still double check the trq on it. Oh yeah I forgot bout your small bolt holding the abs wire on the uca arm getting snapped off by Superman, lol. If you need a hand replacing it let me know and if you want to adjust the uca's again come on by.

yeah I did the same thing with the UCA bolt found out Zip ties work just as good as screws right there lol

checked my UCA main bolt the other day and found the nut loose enough for me to remove by hand... ?! Went over to other side and same thing. I know I torqued these to 100 lbs when I was done with them.

Maybe alignment guy ? Don't know but ended up locking them both up with a second nut. Something to check/keep an eye on.

Edit to prevent cluttering build thread: I checked nuts after Heniker due to all the noise; tight at that time. jdk

Billy's UCA bolt came out on a trail run. It's CRUCIAL to retorque a few times after install. Cause you probably didn't touch them since May when we lifted our trucks, right?

Which bolt you guys talking here? The long bolt (UCA to frame)?

We're talking the top nut (UBJ to UCA) on the LR UCA's. The "quick camber" adjustment if you will. Torque spec is 150 ft-lb on these. I'm certain I exceeded that using the ole' "feel-o-meter". You won't get a 2nd nut on these.

My alignment guys don't touch my UCA adjustments. I do those and then have them use the factory adjustments to bring everything else in.

Hope that clears things up. Appreciate the concern gents!

Talking about the long bolt that's almost in the engine bay that the UCA pivots on. 100lb torque pretty sure.

Anyway, I was just mentioning it because it was so bizarre to find both nuts loose enough to take off by hand and that bolt was in the same neighborhood as the current discussion.

Roger that sir! You got me curious now. I'm gonna check them out. I gotta fix my splash shields down there anyway. Body lift + off road flexing = no bueno for splash shields

Holy SHIT jdkilroy! Went to check those nuts and found THIS on the passenger side:

The entire nut and washer were completely missing and the bolt was backing out. The driver side was still there. It wasn't 100 ft-lb tight, but it wasn't turnable by hand either. I think that it would really take a lot for that bolt back out enough to let the arm loose, since it would have to travel uphill while under shear forces, but it definitely walked. And in case anybody is curious, it's pretty hard to find these parts locally. Ended up just ordering the nut from Conicelli and washer from McMaster. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Jon.

On to other stuff. Yesterday we got some snow in the Carolina's... Unfortunately we didn't get any here. My wife asked me to take half the day off to drive her to the mountains so that we could chase Yeti's and see snow. So I did:

And a huge announcement to my T4R family. My beautiful wife and I are expecting our first child! Yay!

I had the exact same problem happen to me, the first one happen on the driver side, I was lucky enough to have caught it, but for the passenger side I was unlucky, the nut and washer were gone, so I had to order the nut from Toyota and call spc for the washer, after receiving all the parts I when ahead and use loc-tite and mark it.

Yup, same as mine dawg. I'm taking the same action as well. Nut from Toyota, found a washer on McMaster that'll work (was close to calling SPC as well) and I'm gonna use some thread locker on them. Seems like a very prevalent issue.

And a very potentially dangerous situation! One dude's bolt backed out on a trail run and his wheel tucked into the wheel well. Luckily one of the guys on the trail has every spare part known to man and some to ape, so we were able to fix it on the spot, but imagine if that had happened on the highway? That would have been disastrous!

This issue is making me weary of switching my UCA's lol
