Brown Mountain
My boys suffered a particularly rough week last week. Long story short, they were attacked by a pack of dogs, led by a pit-bull. They went straight for my little one and my father in law managed to rescue him before any harm was done, but by the time he had gotten him to safety and turned back to Baxter, all three were on him. He held his own though but every time he managed to get one down, the other two would pounce. I wouldn't have been so worried had he been in his prime, but my poor guy is an out of shape old man and is half blind. If I'd have been there, no doubt there would have been bullets flying. It was pretty nerve racking to hear this over the phone. My dogs live with my in-laws.
Anyway, I went up Saturday to check on him expecting the worse. He was in surprisingly good shape and good spirits. He was a little knicked but you really couldn't tell. So I decided to take them away for the weekend and let them enjoy a truck ride and some nature.
We just picked a spot and took off. We settled on Brown Mountain, which I've never been to before. I was hoping to get a little wheeling in as well, because I've heard that there was a trail system up there, but I think it was closed.

His favorite thing to do... Eat water. In this pic you can see the gash on his hip. That's actually the worst of it:

So, they enjoyed the hell out of the trip and they're both doing really well and in good shape.
