SuperPro LCA

I just did the math on for this when I installed them this past weekend. Measuring the centerline off-set at each bushing and then converting that to a total forward offset angle, I trig'd out that the double-offset LCA's should shift the wheel hub centerline forward by about .4 inches.

Taking a reference measurement between the frame and brake calipers before and after installation confirmed this.

Also confirmed by the fact that my tires no longer rub in reverse with the steering at full lock, and the resulting gap is just over .3 inches.

As for compatibility with the tab eliminator kit, I cannot comment.

I ended up installing mine with both the forward (camber) and rear (caster) cam bolts at their max outboard setting. I also have SPC UCA's at their "neutral" or "OEM+2deg" caster setting, and with the ball joints clamped at the outermost ends of their adjustment slots.

With that combo I was able to get everything dialed in to a very nice alignment spec with +4.0 Deg. Caster, Neutral Camber, and +0.2 Deg. toe.

Yup, same here on the spc adjustment , I was amazed at how much camber I needed to pull out lol

I would love to go OEM but Canadian Toyota prices are insane. New control arms and all cam hardware will cost $1400...just for parts. Superpro looks like a nice alternative and good quality. I can get them shipped to me in Canada for about $950 (on sale).

How has everyone liked their Superpro LCA? Any issues or concerns?

They work just fine. You shouldn't have any concerns running them at all.
 
Okay, good to hear. Some people have complained that they are a bit noisy...they squeak a bit. Has anyone noticed this? I suppose pre-lubrication would solve this.
 
LCA replacement

Hey yall I know this is a bit of an older thread but I am looking into this whole topic because I was debating whether or not to buy a new set of OEM arms L / R or the super pro kit with all the hardware. I saw some reviews of people talking about them but this thread is the most comprehensive on the info about these superpro arms. So far none of you guys have said anything bad about the ball joints on them so seems like those are solid. Overall they seem like a great choice especially with the upgraded hardware / cam alignment stuff. So right now I have king 2.5 rear shocks in the back with my stock rear coils and I picked up a set of the King 3.0 IBP EXT travel front shocks for my 4runner. Its a 05 v8 4x4 btw. Since all my front suspension stuff is original at 162k I want to replace it all before putting on my new front shocks. bushings ball joints etc. Right now I just have a 2in spacer lift on the front which was level but after installing the longer rear shocks it made my rake come back. I would like level with my new shocks and would probably crank them to possibly 3in of lift. Well see I feel like my front springs are quite saggy though they are bouncy and very soft. Do you guys think I should get the double offsets? I previously had a 3rd gen 4runner I did similar setup with aftermarket uca and kings w/ roughly 2.5 in of lift but I used whiteline bushings and I didn't have any issues with alignment specs not having offset lca's. Not sure if I would need the double offset. But anyways I think I will be going with these superpro arms. Overall seems like you guys only have good things to say about them and they are well priced for what you get. If I get them i will post some before and afters.

I have 40,000+ miles on my superpro lower control arms. They are working great. The regular vs offset one is dependent on if you use an adjustable upper control arm or not. I also have been running superpro lca busings in my tacomas, all been great.

That said, I have had bad luck with superpro lower control arm alignment bolts. I had two bolts break within 1500miles of install. I switched back to toyota hardware and all is good ever since.

You'll really like the king setup. I got mine from filthymotorsport.

Hi there Mark appreciate the response. That's good to hear. Not sure if that was you but I saw on this fourm another thread that their SP cam bolt broke and only a tiny nub was left holding it on. Must have been a bad batch of their material stock they got for the cam bolts. They are beefy as hell so that is hard to believe they break commonly. I think I might run them and see for myself. oh well. And cool thanks i will go with the regular non offset bushings. with my 3.0 king shocks the clearance between the coil and the arm comes very close at full droop and the tubular total chaos UCA's are the only ones with verified fitment / won't hit the coil. No adjustable upper arms for me.
I am very curious to how the 3.0 IBP will perform. My last rig I had a full 2.5 king setup F/R and I loved it, it was an absolute beast taking bumps and jumping water bars. Thanks again :happy:

this has been a great thread on the Superpro arms and bushings.

I'm curious, kindly take a look at the pic below and tell me if there'll be wear on the areas shown by the arrows. My assumption is that the arms rotate while the large washers stay static. Granted, the amount of rotation is only few degrees but if there were to be any squeaks/rubbing, this would be the place of origination. Sounds like squeaking isn't an issue with these bushings.

I'm after just the bushings and noticed they have inner front and inner rear kit. What's the preferred bushings that i should be purchasing? I Some of you are referring to a "double offset", by that I take it you're referring to both inner front AND rear bushings?

I have a spare set of arms so I can take my time sourcing the bushings and BJs.

This is a slightly different question and it pertains to bushing noises I've been hearing for some time. I also have SPC UCAs and is that where my noises are coming from? Everytime I hit a bump, I'm hearing these sounds and they're not squeaks, more like rubbing. Not tire rubbing, but bushing or rubber stretching (for lack of a better word!). Granted, my OEM LCA bushings are shot beyond redemption so part of me thinks that's what I'm actually hearing. The LCA bushings are opening/closing/stretching as I go over bumps.

If I need to pull out the long UCA mounting bolt then insert grease into that space, I'll do so but wanted to confirm before proceeding.

I've attached my printout and I'm happy with the caster. But, due to the age of the bushings, I bet she could feel a lot better!

Does anyone know the torque values for the Superpro alignment hardware? Maybe it's in the literature that came with the hardware, I need to look!

edit: this info isn't in their literature but i've reached out to them. Factory is 135 ft-lb so that's what I'll aim for.

According to the paper my arms came with it says to torque the cams to 140NM(103 FT/LB) after your done adjusting them.

Hi y'all I figured I would do an update since I pulled the trigger on a set of these arms. So far I am very pleased with them and they have been great. They have been on my truck for about a month now maybe more. It was very nice that it comes as a kit and overall the value is there at least for me. New OEM arm assemblies would be about 800 without new cam hardware. I like that the super pro hardware is beefier than stock as well. We will have to see how they last in the future but if your looking for a set of arms and want a easy install this is the way! The ball joints they come with seem of good quality and look beefy and the bushes themselves also seem to be of really good quality. I watched a couple videos on their design of how the bushings are and I have to say I think superpro has the best design so far for a poly LCA bushing. I really loved that the washers on the bushings are a captured fit / stuck onto the inner sleeve which makes installation a breeze. Previously on my 3rd gen 4runner I replaced my OEM bushings with some white lines and it was an absolute pain in the butt getting the arms mounted back up. The washers for the white line have to be pushed in between the LCA bushing and frame when your putting the arm back on. It took me and a friend at least 3 hours or so just to get those arms mounted up. This time it was like 5 minutes per side. I also like the way they designed the bushing so that you aren't having a harsher ride than a rubber bushing. Usually you loose a bit of comfort switching to poly bushings but I have poly bushings on my TC uppers and lowers and I don't feel any loss in comfort. Quite happy with mine.


For anyone curious, during this job I did a whole front end refresh. New front shocks, TC uppers, new lowers (obvi), new OEM outer tie rods, new OEM 5th gen 2024 updated axles, all new cv axle seals (hub and diff side). She is very happy now.

You now have a nice front end set-up that articulates about as well as current design allows. The biggest problem with OE LCA are the bushes, IMO, they don't allow free travel of the arm like poly bushes do. Also, replacing the cam style adjust hardware with non-adjust and setting front/rear to the same position is best, IMO.
 
Thank you All! This post is very hepful! Front LCA's are the only thing I hadn't swapped out, and I have been leaning hard towards these. Other option was to buy a set of Mevotech supreme and rebuild mine with Mevotch TTX balljoints and Whiteline bushings, so I had spares. But the SuperPro is looking more like the direction I want to go for FJ Cruiser!

Alright, well back to my trusty T4R.org forums! I'm doing a front end refresh in a few months and I'm really torn on LCA choices. I've been doing the 4Runner DIY game for a long time now, and I know that OEM really is the way to go with most things. I can get OEM LCA's on Amayama for $654 shipped for a pair, but that's without the cam bolts and hardware. Then I could get these Energy bushings for $125 and take them somewhere to get pressed in? 2005 TOYOTA 4RUNNER Energy Suspension 8.3128R Energy Suspension Control Arm Bushing Sets | Summit Racing

I live in CO, so I wheel this thing, but less difficult trails as the years go on. It has a 3" OME lift (which rides so well), but even then I was considering taking the .5" top hat spacer out of the front and trying to get closer to 2-2.5" because I'm so sick of the wear and tear on the rubber components up front. I have replaced so many CV axle boots (CVJ red silicone ones), and I'm going to try the 5th gen OEM CVs next. I also have JBA High Caster UCAs.

I really want whatever ones I choose to last a good while, so I'm nervous about going non OEM for these. I'm also nervous that anything beyond OEM spec for caster anymore because of the downstream effects it has on other components.

What should I do? Y'all still happy with your SuperPros?
 
I just did mine here in COa couple months ago with JBA UCAs. I had about 3 inches of lift before and it almost seemed the SuperPro with caster increased the lift. I'm trying to picture the caster from both doing that. I took out the spacers that the previous owner installed and it sits better. This is a V8 with 5100s on 885s.

The articulation with the poly on both upper and lower is so smooth. I'm happy. If you're in NoCo, LMK.
