Surf's Down

Congrats I see in your signature that you did end up picking up the land cruiser! Lets see some pics of it now that it is yours

It lands on the BC coast May 30th, I'll fly out and drive it back in early June. There will be pics, don't worry about that, lol.

Finally got a settlement offer from my insurance yesterday, over 5 weeks since the accident! Public insurance beyond sucks!

Updated my FS thread with info on the powertrain if anyone's interested. The rest of the truck will be parted out ONLY if the powertrain sells, otherwise it all goes to auction.

Salvage got picked up today, guy drove out from Moose Jaw, SK with a '99 3rd gen and a car hauler to get it, about 8 hours each way! Very mixed emotions watching it go, but at least it's gone to someone who appreciates what it was, rather than just sold at auction with all the other total losses.:crybaby:

Also, picked up my wheels from being refinished, so that's a good thing! 285/75/16 Duratracs going on them, likely next week sometime.

LC landed in BC today!!! I'm starting to get excited!

YES. You have no idea how much I am considering a RHD Cruiser. PLEASE post up many detailed pics of your new rig. Or wait, better yet, stop by on your drive back through!!

So did they ever catch that asshat who hit ya? Glad to see you got a new rig.

No, seems there's no money in catching criminals, cops just like to hand out tickets around here. Pretty disgusting.

I'll be in Calgary June 13-14 on our way back, not sure what we have planned yet though. PM me your # and I'll give you a ring if I have any spare time. There will be many pics taken/posted in here when I get it back home!

your LC was down under the deck back stage...

"Boat's motor making noise yo!"

I had to use my phone to see what the link was, youtube is blocked at work, lol.

Congrats on the LC. Looking forward to seeing your new rig.

How does the Public insurance work in Canada? You don't buy individual coverage from a private company?

Only certain provinces have public insurance here, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and BC you have to buy TPL coverage through public, but can buy your collision/comp/etc from private. They claim it's cheaper than private, but that's only true for those with bad driving records for the most part. Ontario's private rates are really high, but that's in large part due to their huge injury payouts, things are wonky over there, not a good comparison.

As it stands, I have to insure with the public insurance company, and when I'm not happy with the service I recieve (any time I have to deal with them typically), my only recourse is to move. It's a really great system!!!

Well, the countdown is finally over, hop on a plane tomorrow morning and fly to Vancouver to pick up the LC! I'm finally excited, very excited actually. Can't wait to hit the mountains!

That is awesome! Glad to hear it seems to be working out so well for you after all!

I'll be interested to hear how well you like the LC relative the the 4Runner; it's a move I have often considered.

And I have myself a Land Cruiser!!! Flew into Vancouver this morning, got a cab to the warehouse, looked it over and checked the fluids, torqued the lugnuts, etc, and took it to ATEB in Burnaby to have the bottom end bearings changed, oil & filter, and tranny fluid changed. Also has a vibration in the steering wheel over 70km/h, so I'm having them look at that as well, hopefully just a tire weight missing. Looks really clean, can't wait to get it back tomorrow!

In the meantime, hanging out in Vancouver, just hit the rooftop pool at our hotel downtown, nice place.
