Surf's Down

I honestly didn't even take any pics, it was dusty from it's travels, and I needed to get it to the shop to have this work done. Pics tomorrow, promise.

Got the truck back this afternoon, did not however get a chance to wash it. Snapped a few quick pics in Stanley Park, wife wanted no part of it, lol. I'll get more, and far better ones tomorrow when we head up to Whistler for the day.

Thats a great truck for a replacement. But, jeebus that thing seriously needs some tint.

What do you have planned for it?

Well, I had my wheels off the Surf refinished and 285/75/16 Duratracs mounted, so that will be the 1st order of business, these winter tires are really soft and squishy feeling, lol. I've got my Lightforce 170's to put on, the Pioneer deck out of the Surf, and some Sony 6.5" speakers for both sets of doors, pintle hitch w/ convert-a-ball setup, weathertech cargo liner, I'll be doing 3" exhaust, adding EGT and boost gauges, and bringing the maintenance all up to date, I have everything needed to do all of this at home already.

I'll be upgrading the front brakes to the '93+ spec (larger calipers & rotors), maybe I'll look at tint (not sure yet). And that should take me into fall, we'll see if it needs anything at that point. I'd like a small lift, but I need to see what will still fit into my garage before I buy anything like that, lol.
 
Awesome! Looks nice and clean too. I say throw a Surf or 4Runner emblem on it so you can stick around! (not that any of us would complain if you did without them)

Agree; but I read in another post that the TRD stickers give an immediate 50hp boost! Good luck with your new bride... err ride! :peace:
 
Looking great Ian! You still planning on hitting up highway 3 on your way back? Drive safe and I look forward to seeing it with the new kicks!

Yup, that's the plan! Drove up to Whistler today and took in some amazing scenery, the truck ran excellent! Got off the pavement and got a chance to engage the lockers, it took a second but they locked in. I'm sure they haven't seen much use over the years, lol. The cooler in the center console works awesome!

You should take the detour on highway 3A when you hit Castlegar. You will then head into Nelson BC which is absolutely gorgeous! Plus, you can then drive the Kootenay Lake road and take the ferry across the lake (the worlds longest "free" ferry ride at 28 minutes.). Then drive the twisty road along the other side of Kootenay Lake. It is honestly, probably the nicest road in BC. Bold statement but I'm serious.....You will pop out in Creston and back on Highway 3. Well worth your small detour! I'm actually in Nelson right now!

Either way, safe travels, BC is such an awesome province and I'm super jealous of your road trip. Hopefully its my turn soon! lol
 
Too funny! So today I was working in whistler driving around in a garbage truck when, suddenly, passing me is IanB in his sweet looking new cruiser. I knew it was you because I was creeping this thread drooling over your new truck at 5am before work today! (and the no licence plate was a dead give away) and You passed me right by the village gate (I think we were both turning onto the highway southbound) and I grabbed all the gears I could to chase that 4.2 down the highway. You left me behind in a puff of black smoke a few times, but my 10 tons of whistler garbage helped me catch you on the decents. In the end we parted ways about 12km south of whistler where I turned off for the landfill.

The truck looks beautiful. I'm really interested to hear how it compares to the surf.

That's hilarious! I remember the garbage truck too, Dodge Ram with a funny looking dump mounted far back? That's awesome, lol! You sir live and work in a beautiful area, it was my 1st time up there!
