Are there any differences on the shocks, springs, etc between the Trail, SR5, and Limited 2015 models?

So shocks and springs,, no diff except trd pro? And I thought the trail would get you more trail worthy suspension.

The Trail has an option for KDSS which includes a slightly larger diameter front sway bar. W/O KDSS, the SR5 and Trail have the same front sway bar. Not sure about the limited.

Not suspension related but the Trail has a locking rear diff and adjustable traction control, Crawl Control and the wheels are 7.5 inches wide on a trail and 7.0 on the SR5.

That "etc" can cover a lot. Are you familiar with kdss and xreas? If not start there cause that will answer most of your questions. In short they're different yet the same.

Yeah,, I'm familiar.

The reason for asking is I just bought a 2015 Trail that does not have KDSS. It has been lifted (original dealer install), but I wasn't sure if the shocks and springs are upgraded. May have to get some OME springs for the rear and Bilsteins all around. Too soft feeling right now.
Wonder if TRD Pro shocks and springs will bolt up??

The first thing to see is, how did they lift it....
Spacers or coilover assembly upgrade?

The answer to your query is, yes, TRD Pro shocks and spring will bolt up / fit. (you will only derive 1/2" of lift from that scenario on the front, and unless you can get them dirt cheap, you can do better with 6112's or another shock/coilover & achieve more lift)

Original dealer installed lifts are almost always just spacers. Take a few pictures. Post it here and we can tell you for sure what it is.

OK,, so it looks like all stock coils and shocks with a 2" spacer lift (pics below). I am in the process of ordering parts to remedy the situation.

I do not plan on creating a rock crawler or slamming the Rubicon, I live in Idaho and do a lot of off-loading with some decent wheeling so I need a bit firmer ride and 2-3" of lift.

I don't think there is anything in the stock setup that I can keep. Springs and shocks are probably to wimpy,, anyone care to chime in on this?

I ordered a JBA UCA set and am about to order the OME lift with 884 front and 889 rear coils, staying with stock bumpers so they should do the trick. F&R sway bar links on order as well. Also adding Airlift 1000 for towing.

Will they (OME) be enough of an improvement over the stock springs and shocks?

Enough for what? A stock 5th gen 4Runner ran the Rubicon. Modded 4Runner ran the Rubicon. Stock 4Runner will take you places you probably won't have the nerve to go. Modded 4Runners can take you places you probably won't have the nerve to go.

Define "enough."

I mean, for what you're planning on doing, just add the Airlift and be done with it. Why buy all that extra stuff before you even know what the stock springs/shocks can handle? My bet is the stock stuff will work just fine for you.

As Greg stated, define "Enough". What is your your ultimate goal and plans. You can start simple and continue to replace parts every time you add to parts / equipment or up size. This gets expensive to continually buy new suspension parts, not to mention the labor if you are not doing the work your self.

Sit back and really think about what route you want to go, how you want the 4Runner to sit / look and what type of terrain you plan to encounter. Read though many of the detailed build threads. Look at what has been done and go from there.

OK,, let me try to clarify.

Main questions:

* Are the OME springs and shocks any better performance wise than the stock components?
*Is the spring rate "firmer"?
*Do the OME springs have an increase in spring rate?
*Do the OME shocks provide better handling off road?
*Do the OME shocks provide better small bump and big hit absorption?
*Will the OME "kit" provide more wheel articulation when combined with sway bar ends and UCA's?

Right now my '15TE 4runner has stock suspension with only a 3" spacer lift added by the previous owner. Nothing else was done to enhance the suspension. It did level it out but did nothing to improve off road performance and I'm not a big fan of spacer only lifts. Additionally,, there is a noticeable "twitchiness" at freeway speed which is why I am adding UCA's. There is also considerable brake dive with the stock springs.
Off road I want it to be able to handle hits on rocks, roots, squirrels, and holes without bottoming out the travel in the suspension. Right now the suspension feels more like a car or crossover type of ride. I can see it being way too bouncy off road with travel getting soaked up on even small hits.
I have a '08 4runner with the TRD suspension package and on asphalt it feels way firmer that the '15 TE. I have not had the '15 off road yet, only have had it a couple of weeks, but I can tell already it will be pretty "soft" off road. The TRD suspension on the ‘08 definitely adds to the "confidence" I have in the truck when in technical situations or really rough terrain and that is what I want with the ’15.
To sum it up, I have no experience with OME bits, but the price point they are at and what my budget (read wife) will allow compels me to consider them first over the plethora of more expensive options. But are they an improvement over stock? I don't need light years of improvement, just something more off road worthy for the reasons noted above.

Check your invoice from the dealer. They normally grab $800-1000 out of your pocket for that spacer lift kit that you bought with the truck. Easy money for them!!

In this case the previous owner paid when he bought it new. I picked it up with 21k on it at a Ford dealership. All they did is safety inspect, detail, change the oil, and rotate the tires.
