Swap toytec springs on OME lift?

I've been rethinking the OME lift that I already installed on my runner. I like the lift, but it's just a little too stiff with the current weight. I'll keep the springs around for when I add some armor and such, but I'm exploring solutions in the meantime.

I've heard toytec springs are much closer to the stock stiffness. Would it be possible to get just the springs and swap them in for my OME springs (retaining my nitrocharger shocks)?

I think I found the right rears (ToyTec "Superflex" rear Coils (FJ & 03-09 4Run) - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits) but what about the fronts? Or would just doing the rears be enough to smooth the ride out a bit?

The fronts they sell are ome. What ome springs do you have?

Ark knows all the #'s but I believe OME 895's are 40% stiffer than stock while Superflex coils are around 10% stiffer. The Superflex coils will be a much nicer ride than the 895's especially with no added weight. Yes, you can use the nitrocharger shocks with the Superflex coils.

Casper, that sounds like what I'm thinking of. Will the ride height be about the same going from the 895's to the superflex's?

OME is over 40% stiffer, Toytecs are 10% stiffer. I believe you'll get around 2" lift with either coil, definitely a better ride with the Toytec rear coils.

On a v6 at stock weight, I hear 884s are a better choice than 885s. However, they have the same spring rate so I'm not sure it makes a ton of difference (885s are taller).

what is the big difference in the OME shocks and 5100's?

Probably different in length and valving, haven't seen specific numbers for both (have for bilstein, not ome though).

Well swapping in the superflex springs in the rear sounds like it will produce the exact results I'm hoping for. I'll keep an eye on this thread for any additional thoughts, but unless someone jumps in with a big reason NOT to do this... I'll probably pull the trigger tomorrow.

No reason not to IMO, outside of adding weight in the future. Since you'll be keeping the OME, no worries there. I'd start there, and consider swapping the fronts if that doesn't do what you want. You should be able to tell if it's the front/rear that's too stiff. If it's both, you'll need to use the 884's instead of the 885's.
