Swapping heater control panel

First post on forum I love this place.

I have a 2000 T4R SR5 I want to Know if I can swap out the heater control panel that has the slider bars and knobs with one from a limited edition which has the LCD and no slider bar.

I have seen behind the gauge before and it seems to have extra connectors .

You probally could but I would think that there is a lot more to it then just switching the panel and hooking up the harnesses. You would be switching from a cable operated unit to an electronic one and you would probally need to swap out some other things to control the temp and recirculation. I would go to a local junkyard and maybe check one out to see if the rest of the parts are electronic or not.

Thanks for the help I will try to go to the junkyard this week but there never seems to be any late model 4runners there let alone limited editions .

also it seems that at some point the digital control has to go to a physical switching cable .
