Sway Bar Links - Eugene, OR

Nice looking product! I'm considering a purchase.... how do you grease these? How do they hold up to dirt/salt?

I'm just curious if they would require some kind of dust boot for my end of the world....

Putting a boot on them would be the way to go. I've considered adding a boot to these kits, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The heims have Teflon races, so it's not metal on metal.

What's the purpose of disconnecting them ? Like in the pic above I see that little pin with the little ring on it. What's the purpose of that ?

For people that want to disconnect there sway bar when off roading. Rather than using a wrench to remove both nuts. You can pull the pins and the link will come right off.

I'd definitely be interested if they had the boots.... in my climate... I have to think it's a must. I guess I'll keep looking for another alternative... but really like this setup! :)

If you're interested I can get boots if you want to order a pair? The main reason I haven't gone this route is due to cost. While boots are great, they aren't on the cheap side.

Send me a PM with a price for the links with boots included, and hopefully we can make a deal. :)

Again, like your product, just need to make sure I can run it in the great white north! lol!

Sway Bar Links

Hi, I finally mounted up the links on my 4th gen, and had a question. Are the threaded studs supposed to be permanently mounted to the vehicle or the links? In other words, when you pull the pins, do the studs come off with the links, or stay on the vehicle?
It seems like the most secure way to mount these would be to permanently mount the studs to the vehicle so that only the links come off. However, when I did this (after trimming excess length on the studs) they still come in contact with each other, preventing me from swinging the bar up and out of the way.
My solution I think, is going to be to leave the upper (the one connected to the A arm) as is, and flip the lower (connected to the sway bar) around so that the whole stud comes out with the link. I may replace the pin with a nut, to prevent slack and movement of the stud within the hole on the sway bar.
Thoughts? Did I mount it up incorrectly?

Only a couple hours to get in you order.

I only get on here Thursday nights, Fridays and Saturdays.... but sent you the funds for one set of front links, no disconnects, with boots, at $171.56 U.S.D. Can't wait to see these babies in person! :)

Got it! Parts were just ordered.

@ nitrag & JD914 did you guys add both the front and the rear links? Have you guys had a chance to use or disconnect them for off road use yet and if so how did you go about securing the front sway bar once disconnected ? Any pics of the front set up would be great if you have. I also have a 4th Gen and am looking into these as options to keep my sway bars on rather than deleting them... Thanks

You'll need to modify the front sway bar on yours before you can disconnect it. The 4th and 5th Gens are different than 3rd Gens with the design. I saw someone on another forum who cut the sway on the driver side in half. They added a sleeve to it, and a couple retaining pin. You pulled the pins out, and the end of the sway bar came off. After that you can remove the driver side link only and run it that way. Making front disconnects work on 4th and 5th Gen's require what has been done in the link below.

I installed the rears and everything is solid. Unfortunately I haven't taken them off road yet. I have a post a page or so back about the install with pics.

As for the fronts, I would not recommend the fronts with disconnect at this point in time. Mike's original setup he sent were very noisy and one wiggled loose (could have been my fault) due to the disconnect feature. He sent a redesign which I have not been able to install yet. I will test the redesign within the next month for sure.

Ok cool ,, I spoke back and forth with Mstudt a little about this,, I'm still trying to figure out what to do. The main reason i was looking into running these is because i was looking at upgrading to the MetalTech rear long suspension kit which requires you to delete the rear sway bar to allow the kit to be fully functional and was looking at these double disconnects as a alternative to keep the sway bar on while on road but then be able to disconnect and get full use of the suspension kit while off road! Please let me know and leave feedback when you get a chance to take these off road and disconnect them. Yeah the fronts are a lot more complicated as there are a lot more suspension component up there to take into consideration, i was thinking to just delete the front sway bar as many have done but still not sure? Oh maybe you can answer this or if not maybe MStudt can chime in, how long" are the rear links, meaning are they longer than the stock links? Thanks again for the reply...

The rear links I make are an inch longer than stock. If you need something longer then that, I can make that as well. The thing that is complicated is the fact that the long travel is complicated. The up travel of the kit you're looking at it the same as any other, and stops with you bump stops. It's the length of the down travel that we'll need to figure out. I personally think sway bar links on the front are not needed, but if someone wants them I'll sell them. I'm a firm believer for keeping them in the rear. Being on coil springs, the rear does get quite a bit a body roll that the sway bar helps to eliminate.

Thanks for the quick reply Mtudt,, what about the fronts are they any longer over stock? When you say they are not need you mean the links them selves or you think it's fine to just delete the front sway(i know you've said this before) i just have concerns about on road at higher speeds with the sway deleted, have heard people talk about the infamous death wobble, but i think that mostly on older 1st Gens etc. As far as the the down travel with the kit goes the length of the links i guess wouldn't really matter as i would want to remove them anytime i am going wheeling to gain all of that travel with out any limitations, The reason i asked for the length is to compensate for the amount of lift for when the links are connected while driving on road, Does that sound right?
