So things are HOT down here in the SE, but not hot enough to keep me from riding MTB, and being active in general. I am worried about my TE though, Has anyone noticed the seats absorbing sweat after a good day outdoors? I know the seats are designed for active folks, but I don't want my truck smelling like me. I sweat a lot, and am just a bit concerned I need to be putting a towel down or something. Thoughts???

I put a set of Wet Okole seat covers on my last car when I bought it. I got them because they're waterproof and I surf a lot. 11 years later, the car was pretty much toast, but the seats still looked new under the covers. They were kinda expensive, but seriously... they held up for 11 years!
I'd have them in my new 4runner by now, but the wifey likes the leather smell. lol, I'll give her a couple more weeks then sneak em under the radar.
BTW, I don't work for Wet Okole or anything, I'm just a happy customer and future repeat buyer.

I think he's referring to the residual sweat after he's gone on a MTB ride.
What I do after a workout that requires driving is bring along some cargo shorts and a tshirt to pull on after my ride or run. I ride in spandex anyway, so it is easy to pull on a pair of shorts and tshirt so I don't look like a fool driving around in spandex.
I do have leather, though, so it isn't as much of an issue.

TE seats tend to shed liquids pretty well and should be relatively ok. I think vapor phase water (and stink) will probably get through. If you fart enough into the seat cushion, however, you shouldn't notice the sweat smell at all:thumb3:
I, too, am pretty active and my TE has been less prone to stinkage than my SR5.

Anyway, I drove the limited and the Trail and like the limited for its ride, quite and amenity, but liked the Trail for the suspension, look, and price.
The doors on the trail seem a little tin canny, but sound okay when inside and closing the door. The limited sounds beefier, but only a little.
Now the seats...

I think you totally misunderstood the whole topic and conversation.
IF you mtb ride you will get sweaty and dirty
IF you get sweaty and dirty it will seep into the seat fabric.
IF you don't want an "essence of yourself" everytime you open the door what do you do?

I get muddy and sweaty while riding mtn bikes. I bought a cheap seat cushion to throw in there for the brief (5-10 minutes) it takes to get to the trail head from the house. When I get home the cushion goes to the garage to be used the next day when I ride. Simple and cheap. If you get sweaty just riding around you probably need to get on a bike and exercise!

i've never had the pleasure of a saddle sore, but am told wearing a diap..er, i mean chamois, for extended periods can contribute
also, i carry a 1g (at least) bottle of water to pour over me after a ride, cools the core and gets some of the dirt/sweat off.

Agreed- I always changed shirt, and shorts after a ride before driving home.
The smell in my gear bag was/is something for the Guinness Book!

I do that when going 20+ minutes away to trail. Most of my rides are 5 min in vehicle to trail head. Not gonna change for a 5 minute 4Runner ride lol.
Good suggestions, I am usually not a fan of seat covers, but those you folks recommend look nicer than I have seen. I sweat enough that I would probably sweat through the shirt I changed into, as I continue to sweat for awhile.
So in other words, it appears Seat Covers for the win! It is worth the money to keep my truck from smelling.

Really though, I understand not wanting to ride roadways, I've got a 8mi drive to work on one of the most popular roadie-ways in town, but I'm in before daylight and don't trust drivers.

Road to get there is very narrow with no shoulder up a steep hill around several blind curves. Very dangerous to ride. I have rode it before many times. Several years ago I came within a gnat's a$$ of getting sideswiped around one corner while climbing the hill. Never again lol. I have a pretty slick system on my bike rack that allows secure loading in just a few seconds for 3 bikes. I have a clamp style lockable rack and I bought the bars that extend and hook to the headset and seatpost so no hydraulic brake line or cable pinch.
The seat pad I bought is dog ugly brown and is old-school with the wire coils in it. I just throw it in the seat, unfold it, sit down and when I get home take it out and put with my helmet and gloves to use again the next day. Where I ride there are several creeks and muddy bogs to cross so even in dead of summer you will have mud on legs and back.
