Started prep for rock light install this afternoon.

For anyone considering this mod...

The kit comes with 8 lights. I got the white lights--- I'm looking to get some utility out of this setup without a lot of "flashiness."

4 have 9.5' wiring cords, 4 have 19.5' cords.
Included is a control box that hooks directly up to an accessory outlet. From here you can choose various modes and speed if you want to flash the lights. There's even a function that responds to music but I tested it out and it doesn't work too great IMHO.

The control box hooks directly up to an 8-source power box where you can connect all 8 of the lights. I will not need the use of the control box, power box, or accessory adapter. I'm going to wire these as a group to one switch, so they can only be on or off--- no flashing hoopla.

Remote and wire routing brackets are included as well. Also won't need them. Zip ties are more secure and easily replaceable.

I will be putting lights on either side of the wheels on each side of the truck. Lights in the back will be routed along the frame for ease of mounting and to stay out of the way of muffler heat.

Rock lights finished and plasti dipped all my rear chrome this weekend...

If anyone is thinking about doing rock lights, hit me up. There's a much better idea with using waterproof LED pods you buy from that dealextreme website, and they are much better priced than the Tantrums.

I love the look. Did you rough up the chrome with some sand paper first or just tape, clean and spray?

Thanks for the compliment. With Plasti Dip you don't rough up the surface, just make sure it's very clean and dry (I used alcohol, paper towels, and Q-tips to get it super clean). If you're using a different paint like Krylon fusion you need to sand as well as make sure it's clean.

It's hard to tell from the pic but there's a chrome strip below the tailgate, directly above the reverse sensors that I painted as well. That was actually much more of a pain because it's a tight fit and the Plasti Dip wants to bond with the sides, so when you take off your mask some of the paint starts to come with it.

Looks like you taped fairly close to your paint/cut line. I find it's much easier to give yourself a lot of overspray to peel off rather than getting so close. When i did my old front bumper this was even too close:

In the back I left about two inches of overspray on the chrome strip and the emblem and it was a lot easier.

Looking to be a big weekend coming up...

Total Chaos LCAs should be here tomorrow from MetalTech, I'll be sure to post up some pics when they get here. They will be installed Thurs/Fri.

Shrock skids, sliders, and TE trim are going in this weekend as well in Charlotte (Saturday/Sunday).

SCS-6's and 285/70/17 Goodyear MT/R Kevlars are going on on Saturday too.

Picking up the Rigid E 40" tonight and am working with a local fab shop to get mounts setup that use the front bolts on my Gobi rack... should be sweet.

Got the amber V3 Tritons in from VLEDs today but I won't be putting those in until I get the Shrock bumper in... same time as my winch install and wiring.

Don't like the Icon UCAs?

Going all out...damn! can't wait to see how it all comes together and what you think of it all - first impressions after install.
