swimmerdude1127's build thread

I can't remember about the warranty, but the customer service was great while I was making the purchase, and the craftsmanship of the build was very nice also.

Hello Your car is very good. Lights just lovely sight. If not a secret, how much are these lights?

Thanks for the compliment. I mentioned this earlier in my thread but no worries... I don't plan to publicly disclose the price on the HID retrofit right now.

Today's projects, finally...

1) Adding the support bolt to the front bracket on the Shrockworks sliders. Straightforward but those stick nuts can be tricky sometimes! Finished picture, passenger side:

2) Fire extinguisher in cargo area. Okki has a much better writeup. HOLY COW --- this one gave me way more difficulty than I anticipated. I don't even know where to begin. I ended up dropping two washers into "no man's land" and after having taken the entire interior trim piece almost all the way off, I still couldn't find the washers anywhere. I drove around my neighborhood tonight with heavy acceleration/brakes in forward and reverse, and I heard one sliding around and then it stopped after a couple jolts. Good riddance. If I ever hear it again, I'll probably end up taking everything apart just to find the damn thing!

Late addition to my build thread. This mod was inspired by the somewhat gray/blacked out theme I'm going for, to reduce glare (it actually is very effective, I never realized how much glare there was before until I had none), as well as seeing Ducmonsta 's awesome job on his. I did consider wrapping the entire hood in black but I think this actually looks better.

I used painter's tape to tape off the section I wanted the wrap to go. I was very careful and measured with a buddy multiple times.

After taping and getting the right measurements, I went inside and laid out my material. I used the same measurements I got using the tape and drew light pencil lines on the wrap to give myself a template to cut.

After cutting my wrap to size, I double checked the fitment on the hood and made minor adjustments PRIOR to peeling off the backing. This stuff is actually very forgiving. In fact, you can have some pretty massive air bubbles and because of the way it's made, it's porous enough to let them through without looking like crap when you're done. I had a buddy help and don't really see how you'd be able to do it without someone else giving you a hand... maybe even two people when you're actually laying it down. It ended up turning out awesome. I love it and would definitely do it again.

Update to all my installs... Bumper won't arrive until Tuesday so I'm going to try to do the new headlights on Saturday.

After that it'll be a couple weeks before I install the bumper and subsequently the still awaiting LCAs

Got the headlights installed. They are sick!

I'll try and upload some more extensive in progress pics and video later.
