I have TMPS sensors on all 5 of my TRD rims. I've not had a light come one the couple times I've done a 5 tire rotation (didn't do it the last time). i don't know if they update the TMPS Id every time I do a 5 tire rotation, or if the system allows for 5 ongoing active sensor entries. It's been discussed a couple times on here, but I'm not sure if there is a final, definitive answer for it. regardless, no light is on in my truck.

Plus if you decide to go bigger or different brand on the next set you've used all 5 instead of having 1 tire you have to get rid of or that ends up different than the rest. I also removed my TPS sensors and live with the light on all of the time. They are made out metal that does not bend up against rocks and had one sheared off while wheeling. I wasn't able to fill it up with air and it caused a leak and the bead came off the rim, so now I always use cheap rubber ones.

I take the spare and put it on the rear passenger, rear passenger to front passenger, front passenger to rear driver, rear driver to front driver and the front driver goes to spare.

Your reasons for doing a five tire rotation are identical to mine. I have already decided I will do a five tire rotation, rather than just keeping a perpetually fresh spare.

Yes, I can understand how it doesn't actually save money but it keeps the tires in similar condition.

I missed your point about the cheap rubber ones --- cheap rubber what?

On the docket for the next four weeks (hopefully I can get it done):

-Upgraded fusing and 2GA wiring to my 100A relay (powers all my aux stuff)
-Pelfreybilt batt cage w/ Diehard 31M batt
-CBI rear bumper w/ swingaway
-Rigid dually diffused in the CBI rear
-SCS-6 with full-size MT/R kevlar on the swingaway
-Rotopax on the swingaway (anyone know the biggest size you can go?)
-Icon progressive rate rear springs after the rear bumper
-Adjust the suspension for sag from the battery/bumper and get everything aligned again


In other news, thinking about picking up a snatch rope (either a MasterPull or a Bubba Rope).

I would stay away from bubba rope; to much stretch for most situations. if you need that much kinetic force, you need to rethink your recovery tactic. Better getting a couple extra snatch blocks, winch extension and tree savers. I would look at an ARB snatch strap or similar from Viking for snatch-based recovery.

Your computer probably does not even recognize the 5th TPMS sensor on your 5th wheel. If you keep all 5 of the wheels/tires on your rig at all times, it does not matter if your wheel is mounted to a hub, a swingaway, or underneath your rig in the spare location. Your computer will still sense it is there. I don't believe the computer is even smart enough to know if your wheel is mounted to a hub or not.

Yeah, after I posted about that, this was something I was also wondering... Makes sense that this is the case though.
 
Trying to get back into the swing of things and get on the forum more...

Took a trip to Potts Mountain "Jeep" Trail this past weekend with some Tacoma guys. Parts of the trail were really tough! I used just about every inch of my armor and then some. If you're interested in going:

having sliders, front bumper w/ winch, and some sort of skids is pretty much the bare minimum. Rear bumper w/ higher clearance would definitely help, as well as recovery gear and at least another truck. Lockers helped a lot, as did the MT/R's. Those tires were great and proved to be plenty tough on the rocks. 3 of the 6 trucks that went were running them.

Anyway, here are some pics for you to enjoy.










Winched here as I was hung up on some rocks and sliding toward the passenger side toward a tree and some jagged rocks.

You just came back from Pott's with Paul (black taco). I saw his pics and noticed your rig. I saw it once at Anchor Allie's. Nice build!

I'm also that other dude on the FB page that also got screwed from our local "off-road" shop haha

Yeah dude, Paul's a good dude! To answer your pm, I got my lockers, gears, and compressor mounting done at ECGS in Raleigh. Highly recommend them! They installed everything but I did all the electrical.

At first I was skeptical of the gears but after using them a lot in 4L and on some tougher obstacles I'd never go back.

Updates (sorry I don't have pics of the swingaway mounted yet):
-upgraded my aux wiring under the hood, thinking of going with a 100A breaker instead of a fuse
-installed my CBI rear w/ full size spare and swingaway, but gotta take some of the mounting off next week in order to re-drill one of the slotted mounting holes. Currently it rubs my driver side rear body panel, so I gotta work it a bit to make it fit right.
-got my 31M battery and cage all set, just need to install them in a week or so
-going a different route with the fuel -- ordered the dual can carrier from CBI and am going to roll with a 5gal fuel and a 5gal water. I plan on doing the pressurized Scepter can mod so you can run a hose straight from your Jerry can for showers, rinsing, etc. Also I'll be able to siphon fuel with the Jerry can up there.
-ordered a fold-down camp table, will need to find time to install that
-still have to wire up my license plate lights and my dually reverse lights
-Instead of the Icon springs I opted to go with the MetalTech ET heavy duty rears. Currently I have the medium duty rears and they are the bee's knees.
 
Rotopax - I'm running (2) 4Gal

Snatch rope/ kinetic rope - I'd check out Amsteel Blue - division of master pull with way lower prices. If you're only getting one, go 20', if you're getting two go with a 10' and a 30'. I've got all three and the 20' get used the most but the 10 and 30 got me out of my rod through the wall bind safely.

Looking good. How did your clearance issue get resolved? Did you end up tying into the tail lights or the trailer wiring?

I Dremel'd out some of the mounting holes to elongate them toward the forward part of the truck. That was the sticking point that wasn't allowing my bumper enough room to come rearward and clear the body panel. To hold it on and keep it taught while I tightened the bolts I double trucker hitch'd the bumper off my Tacoma.

I still haven't done the license plate light wiring... Thinking of moving the location of the light itself underneath the can carrier. As it sits now if the light were on, it really shines to the driver side a lot. Could be annoying for people at stop lights... but then again, so could 14,000 lumens of HIDs if you were in a lowered Prelude 2 ft off the ground.

On another note, if you have a Gobi ladder, the fold-down camp table will NOT be compatible with your setup. Mine wasn't even close and now I have to return it.

The table or the GOBI ladder? Interested in a GOBI ladder :-)

BTW - Bumper setup looks great
