Are heated mirrors std in the 2005 SE?
Toyota site says it is but I can't located a switch.
Where is this located?
I'm I going blind?

Yup, they're standard. I believe they come on with the defroster though I'm not sure (I have a lowly SR5 :( ).

They are standard on the Sport Edition and they do go on with the rear defroster. I was also confused when I first got my truck because the I know the GX470 has a seperate heated mirror switch.

Tied to Rear Window Defroster switch

They only turn on when the rear window defroster is turned on. I would prefer they turn on with a separate switch but that's the way it is.

I don't think the SR5's can get heated mirrors unless there is a special package in your region. I would say 99% you don't though.

I thought the heated mirrors are on all the time.

That would probably fry the heating element pretty quickly.

It only comes on with the rear defrosters and it may even have an auto-off feature to prevent the above from happening. (My last 4runner it would shut off by itself after about ten minutes)

Same here. In my last car, they worked nicely in the rain.

The lack of heated mirrors on my 04 SR5 is about the only complaint I have (except for drivers seat). Here in Canada, heated mirrors are of great value in the winter.

I believe the wiring is in place for the heated mirrors. From my recollection, Toyota Canada wants about $200 for the heated mirror glass assembly, per side. Muth mirrors may be more cost effective and have the added signal feature.

Can anyone confirm they are pre-wired??

TIA

When my Sienna's mirror broke I bought a standard mirror because I did not think my LE had heated mirrors. Well the plug was different for the non heated mirrors.

Bluto, funny you mention the rain. I have noticed if I run mine when they are wet, water drops not fog, they water vanishes! I run mine in the rain when in stop/go traffic and once they are dry they seem to stay very dry.

You can order the heated turn signal mirrors if you live in the southeastern part of the USA. You can NOT order a 4Runner with turn signal mirrors from Japan if it is ported for the western USA. Probably because the state of Califunky frowns on them. But they have relaxed a bit over the past couple of years as more consumers are demanding this function on thier vehicles. I have considered ordering the heated turn signal mirrors from my parents residence in the southeastern part of the USA.
