Switch-pro SP9100

Curious if you had to trim the switch holes to get the wiper heater and AC switches to fit in those locations. I tried moving the wiper one and it did not appear to fit up there.

Yes i just used an exacto blade, but I cant remember If I had to trim the holes slightly or a little notch on the side of the switch housing, its been awhile since i did the install. I didn't take photos of it unfortunately but you should be able to see it when you get the switches out, takes seconds and they fit and work like new.

Not sure if this will help anyone but I made this diagram to help with setting up the power trays. I'm an electrical noob so it was helpful for me to have visuals of the setup before I started the install. The 9100 wiring is slightly different I believe, but same concept.

Absolutely it is helpful to people, thank you for sharing it....
People need to remember the vertical positioning of the Switch Pro however, so the Power Tray is not going to work.

Is this something new with the 9100 then? Im using the 8100 on a PowerTrays.

It is something relatively new... When I picked up my 9100 a couple months ago, they said to make sure to mount it vertically. Sounds like water can make it inside and corrode the pins. It can void the warranty. Might want to give them a call on the 8100. Guessing they recommend it too.

Ah ok, good to know. I might go back and cover up the connecter to just be safe.

Really, how is water going to linger on that surface under the hood? Cornering, the heat of the engine? Maybe....maybe...if you are doing super deep water crossings...maybe. (but then wouldn't it still get wet..easier) I may apply a bead of silicon, maybe. Not like I need to disconnect it, ever.

Likely something happened once and they are covering their butts.

The Power Tray is just to good of a solution for me to pass up.

Yeah should be easy enough to just cover the connecter if you're worried about it, I don't really see how mounting it vertical is really much better either way.

I did speak to Switch Pros directly about the vertical mount, and they highly recommend that it is mounted either vertically or at a 'pretty good angle' to keep any moisture from developing on the connector and into the pins. The circuit board itself is forever sealed, so it won't be damaged if there is any water contact, but if the pins corrode, there won't be any way to recover the board. It will mean a full replacement. Now I am not sure what the likelihood of it happening is, but that's the direct response from them. I did try reaching out to Power Trays on this issue via email, and never received a response.
 
IMHO there's no point in using the power tray if you must mount it vertically in order to keep your warranty.
 
Tapping into the high beam as a trigger.

I can’t seem to find solid information on this. On earlier posts around 2013 i have read that the high beams are negatively activated and a relay is required to convert to a positive for a switch.

Really wanted this feature for a light bar.

Any help is appreciated

The electrical contacts are all fine on the connectors, but you can see corrosion around the circuit board potting. The control panel doesn't light up and all outputs are turned on whenever the main power wire is connected to the power module stud. They already emailed me back (on a Sunday) and I won't get warranty support because I bought it new in box from a forum member (I'm not the original owner), just over 2 years ago (2yr warranty), and mounted it flat. I would suggest to anybody mounting it flat to make a cover for it, and not just for the connector.

So looks like I'll need to buy a new system and fabricate a cover. This sucks.

I literally almost ordered the 9100 with a power tray. Now I'm starting to rethink this horizontal mounting thing. Does anyone have any pics of it being vertically mounted?

Sorry that happened, good example why Switch-Pros is requiring the vertical mounting of the power module now.

If one were to mount the 9100 Horizontally what measures would you recommend taking to ensure water does not get to the pins.

Silicone where the wires exit the connector?
Taping/covering the wires exiting the connector?

Any other recommendations?

Help! This is my first time trying to wire anything. Could someone check this for me?
All the walkthroughs have a fuse block with both a (+) and (-) but the fuse block I have from blue seas only as (+)
Hoping someone can check to see if this is the correct way to wire this setup.
