Switching from 03 to 06 headlights and had a question about the wiring

With the TRS HID's it was a HUGE difference driving around tonight.

you just have to take the clips out of your old ones.

Question.. possibly interested in this 06' headlight conversion to my 04'... If I'm not mistaken, someone proclaimed that having the newer style grille would take care of the triangular gaps b/w the grille and new headlights? that makes zero sense to me because I retrofitted the 06' grille into a satoshi mod and i have those wonderful little triangles and don't see how the new headlights would fill the gaps. Am I missing something?

You need 3 main items. The lower plastic fillers that go between the headlight and the bumper, the 06-09 headlights and an 06-09 grille.

06-09 grille will need some trimming for an '03. I am waiting to make sure my new bumper comes through before i go with a new grill.

I'd like to see this as well. I've read a few posts where people mention using a wiring harness from another Toyota or even a Honda, but no pictures documenting this at all. I do have a part number for two Toyota harnesses, but not sure I want to spend another $50 or so on this part just yet.

I just purchased brand new '06-'09 headlights and Titanium Metallic filler panels from partznet. I also got the RetroQuick D2S kit from TRS. I am almost done swapping out the projectors and when that is done this is the last piece of the puzzle. As a last resort I may just buy some bulb holders for the 4157 and 1156 holes just to seal up the light for now so I can install the HID wiring harness.

I am keeping my stock bumper, but I'd like to make the auxiliary lights in the new headlights functional at some point. I haven't decided yet on how I would like each light to function, it may depend on how difficult the wiring becomes.

Okay, that sounds pretty straight forward. Thanks in advance for doing this. At least I'll have one part of my retrofit go smoothly!

I'm buying the empty bulb holders today so I can at least seal the lights up soon.

So for the original factory setup for the lighting on the '06-'09 4Runners, can someone clarify the placement and function of the parking light, DRL, and front turn signal bulbs, as intended by Toyota?

According to Sylvania's website:
DRL: 4157
Front Sidemarker: 168
Front Turn Signal: 1156

I thought there were only 2 bulbs, with the DRL and turn signal still sharing a bulb (top corner) and the parking light by itself (lower corner). Then the obvious arrangement for the headlights with the fogs remaining in the bumper sans projectors.

What am I missing?

Nevermind, I just confirmed that there is no 4157 on the '06-'09 lights. For the record, that's the first time I've ever gotten incorrect info from Syvania's online bulb replacement guide.

So it looks like my original thoughts were correct:

1156 - DRL and front turn, top corner
168/194 - front marker, bottom corner

Looks like part # 81125-35440 is the harness with the 2006+ marker and turn signal socket on it. Looks about $23 each side.
