& toyota does not recommend 0/30 in any 4runner, its 5/30 for 4th gens & the newer models use 0/20.

You might want to open your owner's manual, towards the back there's a chart showing which oil to use. For both V6 and V8, in all temperature ranges, Toyota specifies 5w30:

I switched to Shell Rotella Gas Truck synthetic about 8 months ago at 209k miles from synthetic blend and haven't noticed any leaks because of the switch. I have a slow valve cover leak, but that was there before the switch.

IMO, Scotty Kilmer is mostly just clickbait and doesn't offer much value. I find ChrisFix, EricTheCarGuy, HumbleMechanic, DirtLifestyle, and Timmy The Toolman to be good youtube channels for learning DIY mechanics

I change the oil every 5k miles and now have just over 179k miles on it, just completed last oil change a couple days ago. No leaks what so ever (knock on wood). I've now got another 4Runner I bought new in 2018 back in the US as I work there 6 months of the year. I've been using Mobile 1 on it and at just over 36k miles no leaks on it either. So bottom line is I think people probably over think the synthetic/blend/convential oil thingy. More important to do timely and consistent oil changes, but then what do I know, I don't even have a "channel" LOL !

I have 2005 4runner from new with 150,000 miles
When I switched to synthetic a year ago I immediately got drips and laid down some cardboard to keep track.

I then switched back to conventional and the drips almost completely stopped, so I am staying with convention.

I used the same weights oil so its the "thin" synthetic that leaks in my 4 runner. I change oil every 5000 miles in either case.

One drop a week on conventional is not a big problem in a 15 year old 4runner V6. I don't (and have never) want to mess with the oil pan bolts - but that looks like the area where the (slight) drips come from. Wet.

In my next oil change I'll have it done at our regular shop and see what the mechanic says. He mentioned the "drips" (wet) once a year ago when the car was up on a rack.

This is such a minor issue IMO in a 15 year old 4runner.

It drips 1 drip a week. Not a big issue IMO.

NOTE: I never added and will not try adding a "stop-leak". Not that major a problem as yet.
