Check out Treadwright.com hopefully you are going to have winter tires. You'll have less traction than a bicycle - on Michigan's plowed roads. But those will definitely throw some mud!
That is my other option. I just wish they had something more aggressive than the "Guard Dogs" in my size. I know it's a good tire, even know a guy personally running them and he loves them.
I forgot about most swampers being bad in snow...ugh.

Just a thought or a stupid question all together but... Have you tried/looked at:
Hercules Trail Diggers, or perhaps (I know, a little more cha ching!) Mickey Thompsons..
I know, no where as aggressive as you are looking for but I am plenty satisfied with my General Grabber AT2s .. They are really good at anything I throw at them including snow/ice... Just a thought my Friend... Just a thought ... :tape2:
Will check out the Hercules, and I like several tires Mickey Thompson makes but they are just so damn pricey! Ouch! lol. I really want some nice aggressive mud tires, and there are a few that are decent in snow too. Just have to make a decision when I get the money I guess.

I hear ya.. How about the Federal Couragia M/T ??:bump:
I really like those! Forgot to mention it before. I know a few guys running those and they had good reviews in snow and mud.

I haven't seen that you have yet addressed your exhaust issues, so figured maybe this is worth mentioning:
When I bought my '04 v8 earlier this summer both manifolds were cracked, as is apparently typical. It's a decent amount of labor getting them in and out of there, but I was able to TIG weld both of them in just a couple minutes. They've held up well so far, not a pop out of either side, after a summer of a few thousand miles and plenty of hauling and towing. It saved me (for now) having to buy new headers or worry about the plug defouler trick. Be prepared to replace studs and gaskets, but somebody (maybe your exhaust guy) might be able to touch 'em up for you. Just a thought.

I stopped at the shop that is going to build my headers and he is swamped. He doesn't want to build headers from scratch now, but we went over options and decided that I am going to order a set of Tundra headers for the VVT-i motor and he will make them fit. He is also going to make me a custom Y-pipe and bend my tailpipe so it comes out the side and exhaust won't come in the cabin with back window cracked open. He already knew about the spark plug defouler trick to fool the ecu that there won't be any Cats anymore, so that was nice to not have to explain. He wanted to put it on his Dyno and tune it some, but being all wheel drive he can't get it up there.Sucks. So he will be doing the exhaust middle of July for me. Gives me time to put on my Body Lift, tires and new brakes though. He wants the B.L on first to give some extra room which is cool with me.
Doug thorley is making headers now finally. Hopefully this winter while work is slow I can buy them and have them installed. I'm also doing an offroad y-pipe so there won't be any cats at all. I'm also seriously considering a full dual exhaust as well.

Oh, and if I can't afford that I figure getting them welded like you did is a very good option. They're leaking pretty bad now..

I have to say, I've seen many say that the V6 is close to as powerful as the V8....B*ullsh%t!!! I drove my moms FJ trying to get her up a hill and it bogs down easily with stock sized tires. I have 33's on mine, stock gears, and that V8 blows her away! She is almost as quick on the street with my bigger tires, but still not quite as fast there either. So, is there a difference between the power of the two engines? Damn skippy there is! It's called TORQUE people! :bat:

Not as dirty as I wanted. To much water still, we had major rain last week. Lol she had a blast! Little scared a few times, but she did great.

lol its got a lot to do with the FJ, my friend has a stock FJ and I've driven it a couple times, its slow as molasses compared to my v6 too
