T100 neglected

Bought this truck back in July. It was a central florida hunting/trash truck, if that gives you any idea of how bad of shape She's in. So far got the brakes working, windows working, and new tires. PO center punched the bumper, grill, and core support, so I took them off and put one of the cheap amazon grills on. Now comes the full on maintenance stuff. Hoping to get a new life out this poor thing.

T100 neglected-Maintenance

Decided to pull the Timing cover back and saw a cracked out piece of rubber. So let the fun begin.

Years ago I came up with an idea for the seals on my 4th and 5th gens front axle, so I went to the hardware store and found some suitable PVC fittings and lightly tapping with a small hammer worked OK.

The exterior of this engine is trashed, so I was surprised there wasn't a crap load of sludge in the valve train. Aisin water pump wasn't leaking and was pulled without issue. A few of the plugs were stubborn to get out, but the new ones are in there, with a little massaging.

Well the rain has been relentless here. So to stay somewhat busy I went bought a cheap tub and cleaned some parts. Grime was heavy on the valve covers and plenum. So I used Purple Power, a brass wire brush on the exterior, an appliance brush on the inside of the plenum runners and of course the CRC cleaner for the throttle body.

Completely forgot about getting a crank pulley wrench you need to torque it to spec, so I had to scramble to come up with a suitable alternative. Tried some old bed frame, but at 217 ft lbs, it folded like a politicians morality. So I'd heard tell of 2x4s being used before, and made that work. Truck is up and running again and a little cleaner on the top side of the engine.
