"T40R" 5th Gen Trail SAS on 40's!!

Though an exciting build and looking forward to the results, at estimated $30K+ plus vehicle, it would be hard to pass up a JK with Rubitrux AEV 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi installed for similar coin. Regardless, cool to see someone testing uncharted waters with the 5th gen.

Wow, This thread already got destroyed with mostly garbage comments... I have a ton of questions and want way more technical detail on this wonderful build.

- What axle widths did you go with WMS to WMS?
- What diffs? What gear ratios planned? What lockers?
- Looks like Dana outters? Manual hubs? Why not Toyota balls and RCVs? (because 40s?)
- What steering box? Hydro assist I assume?
- What transfer case? This buil begs for at least 4:1
- Sticking with driver side drop?
- How is the abs being addressed?
- keeping stock gas tank and basic rear link setup?

40s is really going all out. I would be totally happy on 37s :tape:

Any plans to exo cage it or something. If the truck is actually going to be used to what it is being built to be capable of... the body is going to get destroyed pretty fast...

WFO9,

Thanks for being POSITIVE!! We're super pumped to complete this build and show the "Garbage Commenters" what's up.

What axle widths did you go with WMS to WMS?
<br><br> We're still playing with exact widths, the front is a Spidertrax SPN68C35T 68"<br><br>
What diffs? What gear ratios planned? What lockers?
<br><br> Hi9 in the Front, 5.13's ARB's front and Rear<br><br>
Looks like Dana outters? Manual hubs? Why not Toyota balls and RCVs? (because 40s?)
<br><br> We chose this hub type because it will allow us to retain ABS functionality (A LOT more on that soon, I promise) I prefer manual hubs to computers doing things for me :)<br><br>
What steering box? Hydro assist I assume?
<br><br> I'm sure there's a box in mind.. As I'm writing this I can't find that info.. Hydro for sure!<br><br>
What transfer case? This build begs for at least 4:1
<br><br>We are going to use the stock T-Case at first, see how we like it.. Might do a Doubler :)<br><br>
Sticking with driver side drop?
<br><br> Yes, the goal here is to build a daily driven "Rock Crawler" and not change the drive train too much<br><br>
How is the abs being addressed?
<br><br> It took a little R&D but we've tested our theory and it works, essentially the truck will retain the factory ABS tone ring and sensor. Once that portion is complete I will post it.<br><br>
keeping stock gas tank and basic rear link setup?
<br><br> Plan on keeping the stock tank, again we want to keep everything else as stock as possible. As far as I know rear mounts will be used with custom arms.<br><br>
40s is really going all out. I would be totally happy on 37s :tape:
<br><br> Originally, we planned on running 37's and I might on the street for MPG and sanity reasons!<br><br>
Any plans to exo cage it or something. If the truck is actually going to be used to what it is being built to be capable of... the body is going to get destroyed pretty fast...
<br><br>Yes, we are going to protect (most) of the body!<br><br>

This thing is soooooo sweet. I saw all the parts when I was last there (before they were on) and my mind was blown. I couldn't imagine making it all fit, yet alone what this is going to look like when it is done. Subbed!

Could you increase the resolution of your pictures so we can see more detail? Don't be shy about posting lots of pics from different angles. I'm looking forward to seeing video of this on trails. Thanks for bringing the circus to town.
