yep ill be showing how i did everything with the headlights including the end outcome, beam pattern etc.

im probably going to end up riding this 3.4 until it grenades. i just barely bought a spare block im going to be doing new bearings and rings on along with some ARP studs and MLS head gasket for the turbo setup i want to do. if it blows before this happens, itll just hang tight in the garage for awhile until other engine is done

love it. dont really touch the clutch too much when im wheeling, it really fits my wheeling style with how i drive. definitely going on the new engine

That's basically the same roof box I have - It had too much rear overhang with the stock cross bars, so I can actually install it on the 4Runner now. You can still fit 2 bikes or another ski/board carrier on the other side:

im motivated by crossing out lists. so; heres yet another list i am making so i can get the truck wheelable for march

-rear arb rebuild (doesn't even engage anymore) - ring gear hit copper line. - done w/ new pinon seal
-steering rack
-oil change - done
-OTR's??? need to check - done; no need for OTR
-passenger side diff seal (the fronts... leaking.. again..:smow::frusty
-rear upper control arms - done
-headlights - done
-adjust clutch - done
-fix the stupid broken piece right behind sunroof. it rattles - done

bad news bears

i got almost all the maintence dont other than the steering rack and upper links done. i knew i was going to get the short end of the stick with my ARB differential before pulling it, but i took the risk of only buying new seals as this has happened twice now. i took the differential out and found something slightly wrong.... :frusty:

the ring gear took the copper line out.. i ordered a new lock sealing ring kit and waiting for that to come in so i can rebuild the locker unit... that it all

p.s. 5 lug nuts were loose on the wheel spacers. remember to check your wheel spacers

its never ending..... the steering rack makes an absurd pop now when i turn when stationary:cell: the inner tie rod is also very bent on the driver side and i keep aligning it and it keeps bending haha rather than spending almost $400 after shipping/taxes on ITR's i am more than happy to spend 500 with a brand new rack included:crutch:

the one where i can see, and the one where i am locked again

been doing a lot of hard progress on the 4runner lately. ive had this absolute abnoxious sound in the bac of my 4runner that ive replaced a lot of things trying to fix but no luck. i replaced upper links for the back but nothing has changed. i think its a blown up body mount at this point, or something that has to do with the sleeping platform for whatever reason. it is an odd noise. issue is TBD

i also FINALLY got my rear arb differential fixed and i finally have lockers again. since i blew up the copper line, i had to replace the sealing ring mechanism. this is what i had to do after i took the diff out.

the job was intimidating at first because ive never really torn apart differentials but it ended up being a really cool learning experience and didnt take as long as i thought. the pinion is also leaking so i replaced with a new oem pinion seal. locker works as should now!

update pictures on these headlights i mentioned awhile back. expecting to have them running this week

the next things i want to tackle is new steering rack, and getting my second engine in the truck. i plan on turboing so i will keep the old engine specifically for mock up

Your take on headlight retrofit looks pretty awesome! Any ideas on the legality of the lights you are using for it? (I'm not trying to start a debate here in your comment section, just curious if the lights are DOT certified and if you think they might be a potential problem with law enforcement.)

thanks! with that being said






extremely illegal. i dont think ill have issue though with how the beam is pointed with the cutoff line. we will see and i will post if i do get a ticket

finally got everything working as should. i was having issues with the headlights not working on the headlight connector. i got an h4 connector to plug in, and put grounds together, lo to blue and hi to red. nothing would work, but when i bench test everything works.. the wiring ended up being like this. i will make a youtube video soon when i do a secon pair, this is the schematic i drew up for you guys really quick

i also installed a more heavy duty pressure switch for my ARB compressor. the stock pressure switch shuts off at 70psi and is prone to damage your locker possibly over time due to not enough pressure to move the collar. this 120psi pressure switch will ensure to use pressure needed without damage or fatigue over time.

Your new headlight setup looks sick, but didn't you have retrofits? Why did you change? I'm trying to do retrofits but if that is better lighting I'd be tempted (at my own risk lol) to do the same.

yeah i had G2 bx built LED projectors on a build me and will did. there was nothing wrong other than the headlight broke again (housing) and if i was going to have to build ANOTHER headlight i wanted to try n have some fun is all. the projector has better hot spots i feel like. its never bad to experiment IMO as long as your experiments arent ghetto lol well see how long i have these for

so far i am pleased, although i thought there would be a little bit more of a hot spot on both hi and low beams. i need more time as i only drive the truck once a week or so, i need more time using them to have a full opinion
