went to moab for a first shakedown trip, 4runner did well as usual, broke my 13th cv axle, dealt with broken diff seals, other than that id did awesome. on the way home i got 260 miles to the tank somehow, amazing!i am getting ready to try to sell the 4runner though, its been a very long journey of a lot of breakages and almost ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND miles in less than 4 years (im at 93,000 miles) its time to move on to a different platform with better wheelbase and bigger tires.. i am going to be asking $20,000 which i think is feesable for todays prices, especially at the fact that theres nothing wrong with it anymore, i really did a lot of maintenance to it this winter and i am stoked on its condition currently. anyways, here is the photos per usual.

I'm curious what you'll end up in next. Something Toyota still? Seems like a decently fair price for around here, there's some 3rd gens on KSL for nearly as much but not nearly as built. Glws

Add me to the list of curious dudes wondering what you'll get next... I can't help but wonder about a Jeep or something with a solid front axle after all your IFS issues. I sure hope your buyer uses the 4Runner like you've built it to be used. Keep us in the loop!

i sure hope so too! i didnt put all this blood, sweat, and anger into it just for someone to street drive it! ill post what i end up getting, i do know what i want along with basic plans. ill of course start another build thread with what i get, i have too much fun doing this and is really cool to look back on.im TIRED of dealing with weak IFS stuff though! i could always take it more easy but theres no fun in that :lmao:

thats my thinking too, i dont want to rob someone but at the same time theres stocks on KSL for around 15k right now... i think 20,000 is a great deal for it. it is turn key ready to wheel 7s and 8s all season long, ill take it back up to alaska TOMORROW without thought. it really is a great truck right now

big-ish update
well, i was DONE working on the 4runner for awhile.. until 2 days later passed and i had to get stuff done :naughty: i had a new vision for the 4runner one night.. it was big tires, bumping up massive rocks without failure, i did a trail without breaking a CV, it was beautiful... so i purchased, 37s, a ford 9 inch, and i am trying to source 2nd gen tacoma/4th gen 4runner front drivetrain in order to try to fit an 8" front diff in lucy. it make be a crazy spiral to a solid axle (which is what i wanted in the first place) but IFS ride quality and ride height is just too good to pass. in order to fit 37s, i know i have to ditch the wheel wells.. so i am prepping to take out all my ABS, my charcoal canister, and relocating the battery along with an cold air intake (i absolutely hate the sounds of them on a stock car but i have to sacrifice). so, i started off by taking out the charcoal canister along with some used stuff i dont need anymore (light harnesses)

cleared quite a bit of space, although i now have a CEL... oh well, i dont need emissions testing anyways. the next thing i had to do was relocate the purge valve. i welded a tab on it and it got really hot. i painted it and bolted to a stock mounting location and looks great! only issue is that you hear a very loud ticking when the car is on and its electronic. i am assuming ive melted a component inside the valve causing the noise. i am going to try to put rubber in between the valve and firewall to see if it clears things up as i dont notice any drivability issue, it is very annoying if your music is not playing.

speaking of music, i had a rockford dfosgate 10 inch sub for a week or two but it died and i was upset of the quality. i found this 12 inch rockford for $80 with the amp inside of it. i was hesitant but it sounds great, and hasnt died on me yet. its really convienent not sacrificing space for an amp. its mounted via 4 commercial grade velcro strips. it does not move and is removable

after my sub install, my alternator randomly started charging at 18.8 volts :gun5::wow: ive barely had my cs144 alternator so i was kind of upset. but for $100, its not a huge deal. tig'd some washers together for a better system than last, along with me showing youy guys a toyota to cadillac harness i purchased from ebay.

I have poked around a bit in regards to how to safely and easily do this.
I already pulled the fuse years ago, now I want the rest of the system cleaned up.
Looking forward to any info you can provide as you continue this amazing build!

i never really found a good and detailed ABS delete thread so im going to try to make it super informed on what and how i did so you guys can do the same. i plan on taking out the pump,fuse, wires, change to mechanical speedo sensor (i want my speedo and cruise control), and may take out the module depending if everything works without it:rockon:

ive been hard at work, im on crunch time getting the 4runner done before memorial weekend and i got the rear tubbed. onto the front. im goig to chop out the wheel wells, retub the firewall, and i have a lil sneaky shortly after. may not be doable before memorial day weekend but itll be close. anyways this is the progress ive been doing. i cut quite a bit out. over 4" of material

i had a huge sturggle installing the LT and the majority of it was that PO installed a 18" coil rather than the 16". ontop of that i dont have limit straps in yet. the truck needs to be wheelable on next wednesday i am doing a huge wheeling and offroad trip. ill talk more in depth when i get everything up front dialed in

That looks like a JD Fabrication kit. I just installed a new one a couple months ago myself. The coilover mounts I was originally given were designed for a Tacoma and didn’t work because they were clocked wrong with the coil bucket holes, so they made me some mounts that work (luckily I’m close enough to drive 20 minutes to their shop).
Did you check the steering stops on the LBJ? They most likely make contact before full lock due to the width of the lower arm being significantly wider near the end of the arm so you’ll need to grind them down quite a bit.
Also, you should definitely double shear that heimed tie rod outer to avoid issues on the trail later. Not saying it’s guaranteed to give you problems, but they do recommend running them in double shear.

yeah i was having issues with the JD fab kit and steering, lbj's contacting the LCA. i ended up grinding the stubs off, grinded the insides in preperation to "bombproof" that lower balljoint and made a brace. i am trying to turn the LBJ into a uniball setup as well
thats good to know about the double shear part, i will weld another tab ASAP. thanks for the input!
