Taco front end conversion????

If the bumper falls through the 99-02 fat lip 4R bumpers look good with the 01-04 tacoma clips when they are color matched. I would go with the painted grill as well if you are going all black.

Here is a couple pics of some black ones

Now ^THAT^ looks sick! I'm looking forward to seeing how this project progresses. I really enjoy the taco clip conversion and it definitely stands out in a good way! Good luck w/ the rest of the project!

YES!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you are going through with this! Looking great so far. Please keep us posted with photos and updates. GREAT WORK :guitar3::guitar3::guitar3::guitar3::guitar3:

Wasn't this one just on Autotrader? Did you buy it or not sell it? Either way it is sick!

Man that black 4runner with taco front end is sexy. Im seriously thinking about doing that conversion to my 4runner when I could find all the parts for a good price or if shit happens and I do damage my front end this conversion will be done. cant wait to see your finish project

We finally got the grille and lights in, and are installing them today. Pictures will follow. The corner lights and headlights are plug and play, with no electrical/wiring plug mods required.
Now we need a bumper. We were going to go with the Shrockworks, but I need this thing back on the road and not sure we can wait 8-12 weeks. Anyone got any suggestions? The ARB would work, but we dont want the full hoop setup with the light hoops, and I wouldnt want to go cutting on a brand new ARB to take them off.
Once we're done, I'll post up a full list of parts and costs to do the mod. It's all the little pieces that make it expensive, but I'm still coming out ahead of having the shop repair the accident damage back to stock.

AS promised, the parts are on, and here's the progress..........
Now, he's got to take off ALL the trim pieces, fender flares, etc... and get busy with a scrub brush cleaning it up to go to paint. Looks like it's gonna get sprayed "Black Velvet" with line-x bumpers and trim, if we can decide on a bumper.
Anyway, pics below, enjoy..............

It's looking GREAT! ..That last picture especially :biggrin2: I can't wait till I can do this mod, but I've gotta do some other things first (tundra brakes, gears, suspension). Keep up the great work!

Looks good!

Imperial Jade is by far the best color 4Runner, keep it green!

And if you end up with an OEM bumper for any reason, put the 4Runner one on instead of the Tacoma one... that last black one that was posted with the 4Runner bumper looked sooooooo good.

I still prefer the 4Runner front end but this is still awesome and I sure wouldn't mind owning a 4Runner with tacoma front end

glad you revived this thread bertsch!

are there any completed pics tdaggett?!?

x2 There is so much sexy in this thread. Except for the Scion emblem on possibly to best looking 4runner front end I have ever seen. WTF???

I like the look of the fat lip fine, but it makes for a garbage approach angle. I have already thrashed mine just going up and down snow banks.

I would really like to see updated pics.

No.

It's not a Scion.

Scion is targeted for young hipsters and Generation Y. It's a marketing tool, not a brand.

Scion doesn't make trucks.

Would you put a mini emblem on a 5 series or 7 series? No, that would be stupid. Would you put an Opel emblem on a Chevy truck? No, that would be a travesty.

And to say that the Scion emblem is one of the best parts of he build? Come on dude. It's a great looking vehicle with an irrational emblem; there's a reason that you never see it... cause it makes no sense.

If you don't like the scion emblem, don't put it on your truck...
Personally, I like little tweaks like that. It shows that that person has an eye for detail beyond just the functional mods one might have done to their vehicle. I used to love to see Honda emblems on Acuras (I know, not the best example) and I guess it just boils down to the fact that everyone has their own ideas of what looks good. I wouldn't ever put the Scion emblem on my truck, but I appreciate the drive the person has for getting his truck just the way he wants it.
Another example: I can't stand the way tube bumpers look. It allows you to see parts of the car you weren't supposed to see and it just doesn't look clean to me. But plenty of folks LOVE them, and I would never bash them just because they are not something I wan't to put on MY truck.
