BTW: story about the scion emblem, my brother had a TC, he crashed it, when i went to the scene of the accident, i found the emblem on the ground, i picked it up and stuck it on my grille because i havnt installed the toyota one yet...well i got so many comments on it being there, i left it on to give people that "wtf" effect, so if your talking about it. it worked :D

yeah, i was thinking that it was kinda odd that thehoerunner only had 3 post and his first one was stating that its his runner and he only put up two pics of it(the only two i could find doing a google search for the truck) so i am thinking thehoerunner is a troll. i did find however another forum on this where they were selling theirs. the post is 2yrs old but you might be able to contact the seller and see if they still have it or if they still have any info on the swap... heres the link

Sorry I haven't updated the post in a while. The conversion was pretty easy actually. Of course, we started with a Runner missing the front end.
Basically, everything from the firewall forward is 2004 Tacoma sheetmetal. Hood, hood hinges, fenders, grille assembly, headlight and corner light assemblies, and the big one...the radiator core support and center support (the one the hood latch is connected to. We used aftermarket sheet metal, and the fit was pretty good, requiring a little "massaging" here and there, but no big surprises.
The only really tough part was the radiator core support. It is spot welded in and youll have to drill out the welds. It will take a little time to get the replacement in and lined up, making sure all the fender bolt holes line up. We got everything set, and loosely attached the fenders to get everything aligned, then we used self tapping screws to got the new Tacoma one in place, then took out the screws one at a time and replaced with aircraft rivets.
In all, I don't think it was any more difficult than replacing the front clip with 4Runner skins.
You can reuse the plastic inner fender liners, but would have to drill new holes. We just went with Tacoma ones, and the same goes for the fender trim (plastic wheel arch flares). 4Runner bumper fit back on with a little adjustment, but it was aftermarket as well, and the re-pop sheet metal always needs a little bit of encouragement.
I don't have an accurate $$ total, but I think the aftermarket fenders, hood, rad support, and other parts only cost about $1200 or basically the same as replacement 4Runner parts. I even used aftermarket replacements for the headlight and corner light assemblies and I think those added another $200 or so. Even got an aftermarket front bumper for about $200. The expensive stuff is the little odds and ends you can only get from Toyota. We went ahead and had the whole truck painted so everything would match, so you can figure in whatever your local shop would charge you. Overall, I think aside from the paint, we have less than $2K involved in the deal. We didn't have collision ins on it, only liability, so no help there, and the best deal I could get from a body shop to repair it (see the original damage photos) was about $5K, so aside from the fact that its been out of commission for a whole year, I think we did OK.
This is my sons vehicle, and he is apparently not a fan of doing much labor all at once, just a tiny bit at a time, you know how tough it is to be a teenager. Dont have time to get your vehicle running when you have so much socializing to do, so I've been in no hurry to get it done, but we finally got it out of the paint shop with a fresh coat of Imperial Jade Mica just last week. We're having the bumpers, rocker panels, and fender arches (instead of new fender flares) done in Line-x this week, and I'll try to remember to put up some pictures when it's done.

My son bashed his T4r last week, but he's stripped it down now, and I think it's salvageable. The hood, fenders, and entire front clip are gonna have to be replaced anyway, so though we might mod it a bit in the process. Does all the Taco front end bolt on in the same locations?

Is that pretty much a straight bolt on to your frame rails? What year was the 4R you did this conversion to? I have a recently wrecked 1999 SR5 and I want to do the Taco front end...really like the 4R hood scoop though...anyone know if the 02 4R hood with scoop would match up with the 02 Taco front end?

The hood will not line up. There are companies that make Taco hoods with a scoop in them. Can't remember the specific ones. There was a company called Danshoods that was, but I'm not sure if they're still around.
 
I'm doing this conversion now and I'm leaving the core support. Having to modify some parts, and drilling holes for mounting of grille, but so far nothing major. Almost done with it now.
 
I hope you follow through and post your pictures. Would really like to see them...especially since you didn't change your core support over!

I've done this swap n the support is not hard at all

I will say buy good repop fenders or oem

I've had two different sets on mine

I also went back with a factory taco frt bumper
While I build my new front

If I can figout how to upload frm my iPhone I will post pics

Use the taco support seems to be a better choice
I've done 2 swaps now

N using all taco parts is best
 
Black one is in Cali n the org post has been called out many times as it wasn't his truck

White truck was for sale and female owned

Mine is emp green with olive drab front taco clip
As I haven't done paint yet

New starter last week @ 299921 miles
Org owner was org starter
