Tacoma LBJs

I think I remember reading that tacoma LBJs are a stronger longer lasting alternative to 4runner ones. I'm on my 2nd new set of OEM ones, and now these have vertical play.

Going to get the Tacoma ones this time, anyone have experience?

There is a link on how to replace them. Pretty much they visually look stronger but IMO they will fail just the same. You also lose some steering so you will be doing a lot more 3 point u turns.

Yeah, they are bulkier in the casting, but the casting isn't what fails. I don't remember if the ball is any bigger, but I don't think it is, so it's no more reliable. And the loss of turning radius is significant. I think you'll be dissatisfied if you swap.

How long are your OEM ones lasting? They should last at least 90k miles. If they aren't, then any idea what you are doing to them? Maybe you've got something else going on.

Thats the question right there. If running any front lift spacers for lift or along with your lift coils it can cause them to fail prematurely.
