I was updating the 4th Gen Armor Thread (link in my siggy) and someone brought this company to my attention. I'd never heard of them and their operation is down there in GA. Anyway, while I was researching their website for products to add to the 4th Gen Armor thread, I came across this...

Our Research & Development department needs vehicles for product research: inspection, fitment and testing.If you own a vehicle that is included in the list below and would be able to leave it at our facility for a period of 10 to 14 days, we would be able to develop new products for our product line. You would benefit by receiving our new products, installed and guaranteed to function properly. That would be a cost savings for you (components and installation) from: $500.00 to $1200.00 or more!

Ford Super Duty - 2011
GMC fullsize 2007-2010, 2011+, 2010+ Canyon for rear only
Toyota 4Runner 2010+

Anyway, they are located HERE in GA. I am in no way affiliated with this company, but thought it might be be a good opportunity for a 5th Gen owner.

Their website is fancy, but too clever by half. I can't even find where they are located on their website...:rockthrow:

doh. just saw it. I had to scroll more.... :confused:

So it's not actually tactical armor? Damn it. Oh well. A minigun is still the ultimate mod. I'm actually surprised Harper hasn't done it yet.
 
This is the same guy that ran Kennesaw Mountain - he pissed off a lot of customers, folded, and reopened as TAG. I know at least one guy had to take him to small claims to get his money back, and I don't know if he was successful. It'd be worth your time to reseach KMT and review what folks have had to say about him before you decide to give him any business.

Like Vermicious stated, I have heard very few good things about this guy. definitely do your research before working with them

Here's my experience with TAG/KMA (and now Blue Lake Offroad?): I bought a rear bumper from them - looked good on the web, and was only about a thousand dollars for a spare tire carrier, gas can holder, hi-lift jack mount, etc. (with shipping). I figured I would save a few hundred $ vs. buying from the competition. Well, you get what you pay for.

Back on the 1st of June I asked what the wait was, and he (Kyle) said 8 or 9 weeks. So, the next week, on the 9th, I ordered one. When I would check on it he had various “stories” he would tell me. On July 24th he said 3 or 4 weeks. Just about ready to ship, they said... A month later: “pretty darn soon, only 8 in front of you”. 9/12: only three in front... 9/25, it’s done, it’s curing, two days to cure, then 5 days shipping. That would get it here just a couple of days before our expedition trip to Hole in the Rock, Utah. No biggie, I’ll take a day off rather than drag my stock receiver hitch all over southeastern Utah.

9/28 I get a call – they can get it on the road that day if I give them my Visa # to pay for shipping, they’ll give me the tracking #, everything is cool. Okay, still would be in a couple of days before the trip. No tracking number comes. I call on Monday – “oh, it’s not going to ship for another week, that’s what I told you (No, you told me it would ship Friday, which was actually 3 days after it was done and curing. I tell him it won’t make it in time for the trip. He says: “It always works that way. Without fail. <sigh>” like that’s the way his life is. Pretty lame, if you ask me.

It came in on October 10th, right about double the time he said.

We go to put it on, and it’s missing some brackets. More wait. Yesterday I tackle it again.

Bearing parts for the swing out don’t fit. He says the manufacturer messed up, he says he could ship it but he doesn't know what it needs to be. Go to find the right stuff, takes 5 stops. Finally get it on today.

All good? Hardly. The paint is messed up because despite it apparently had over a week to cure, the plastic left wrinkle marks all over it. No primer either, all the scratches are down to bare metal, will be a rust problem.

The Hi-lift bracket doesn’t fit – the tire is in the way (WTF?)

The tire carrier won’t close because the gas can bracket is in the way (more WTF?). Cut it off.

The spare tire mount is crooked, looks like caca (yet more WTF?)

Pretty shoddy, overall. I give it not even one star.

Lol, its like deja vue. If there's not enough bad reviews here, you can search YT threads about kma/tactical armor. You get what you pay for.....MONTHS....after you buy. Be prepared for crap.
 
Scratch these folks off the list. Not worth even taking the chance. I rather pay more for less to get quality and peace-of-mind.

I had spoke to these guys about 6 months ago when I saw someone else post that they were looking for someones truck. I can't remember what forum it was on though. They're aren't to far down the road from me so I decided to talk to em. There stuff for the Xterra's looked pretty good, but their yota stuff wasn't the best from what I had seen.

When I spoke to em, I asked if they had any kind of plans or some general direction of where they were going to go with it. They said no. I told em I'd like to have some sort of input if possible. i.e. high-lift points, shackle placement. Small stuff. He didn't sound too keen on me giving out some ideas. From everything he told me, it sounded like he was just going to start cutting my bumper and just play with it.

I understand not all of the design can always be done on the computer, but to have no general direction? The guy when I spoke to him also said 2 months is how long he would need my truck.

I said no thanks. Glad I did now that I know he was part of that KMA
 
This is good info to have to (hopefully) save other members from making a bad decision. Their site looked decent enough, but it sounds like the owner is a flake. Glad someone could post from personal experience to help make sure others steer clear.
