Tailgate badges held on with adhesive only?

I am going to be removing the badges and harware on my 1st gens tailgate for some paint work. Are these badges simply held on with adhesive? I am refering to the square "4Runner" badge on the right side of the tailgate, and the "SR5 EFI V6" badges on the left side. Figured I would ask before I put a heat gun to them and attempt to wire them off.

The SR5 V6 EFI badges are held on with adhesive, but the 4Runner one on the right is usually held on by four small, easily breakable, plastic snap-on clips.

^This is correct. Just get some high quality emblem adhesive and stick them back on when done painting. I did that with mine (held them on with tape for an hour or so while the glue dried) and no problems so far.
