Tailgate interior lights not working

So I just realized that the interior lights on the tailgate (inside tailgate) do not work. The dome lights and map lights work, and I checked the DOME fuse and it is not blown. Any thoughts? It would be strange if both bulbs blew on both lights at the same time. I am going to pull them and double check. Any help is appreciated.

Are they turned off?

Could be the bulbs if you slammed your tailgate shut, that might just be enough to jolt the filaments in the bulbs loose.

Easy enough to check though, just pull the lights out with a screwdriver (facing forward, pry the left, or driver's, side of the lamps, the clip is on that side) and use a multimeter. Pull the bulbs out, then test to see if you have +12V on the metal clips that hold the lamp in place. One of them should have +12V. If you don't, then you need to find either a fuse or broken wire/switch somewhere. If you do have +12V, the bulb is bad.

OK, I'll give that shot. Thanks!

Take the whole light assembly out and make sure it is plugged into the harness. I had the same problem, brand new off the lot wasn't working. Took the light assembly out, not connected to the harness

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Still no joy. Anyone know where the trigger light switch is on the liftgate so I can check that? Nothing else seems to be amiss here.

I had the same thing on my 2011, was the wiring harness. The dealer replaced the harness and it's been working fine for over a year. Hope this helps.
