Taillight lens removal

My Haynes manual shows screws on the outboard edge of the taillight lens. However, mine only has the inboard screws that get hidden by the tail gate.
After removing these screws, the light housing wants to pivot at the body on the outside instead of coming free. Does anyone know how to remove the lens assembly without damaging it?

The outside edge of the lense has two plastic "pins" that pop into the side of the body. After you remove the screws, pop the lense out away from the side of the car. Looking at it from the rear of the car, you'd slide it sideways away from the tailgate. Mine took a little effort, and I was a little worried that I was doing it wrong, but it came out fine.
Good luck.

Thanks fr8hauler! One more thing: Which direction did you pull to get it to pop out? To the side or to the back?
