Ok, I think I am in love with the 12 Jeep Wrangler.

I dont off road, and LOVE LOVE LOVE the back window of Runner that goes down. But for some reason, I getting a bit obsessed with the Jeep. Maybe for the topless appeal.

Of course as I am writing this, my love for the 4Runner is strong.

Do any of you ever feel this way?

Its a Jeep.. all my experience with a wrangler is they are loud (specially with the soft top!!), terrible to drive, uncomfortable, not as reliable as the 4runner.

The 4runner is comfortable, handles well, reliable, great offroad, and of course, has the sweet back window!

:uzi:JEEP

I gave my 91 Jeep Wrangler to my son in Janurary. I loved that Jeep and miss it. I off roaded it a lot and loved it around town. That 4.0 had a lot of torque and I miss the manual trans. I did get tired of the zipper up windows, When I get another one it will have roll up windows. Make sure you get a 2012 as they have the new more powerfull engine. I will be back in another Jeep Wrangler one day. They are cool. I actually had very little trouble with mine even though it is 21 years old. The aftermarket support is awesume compared to 4runners. If you do a lot of highway miles a 4runner is better but it is a toss up otherwise. Those things really hold their value also.

Definatly a nice choice if you are to steer away from a 4runner. I personally really like the Rubicon, and have seen two very nicely lifted - both on 35's and they looked fantastic and were very capable offroad, I know thats not what your goin for, but its just my taste.

Regardless, my entire family owns Toyota's (except the wife) and we've always been happy. It may just take a jet car with wings for me to ever shift away from Toyota.

Yea..I love the back window also. My pathfinders had a rear window that popped up. The 4runner window is much better. Don't have to get out of the truck to close it.

I had a small obsession with wanting one as well, prior to getting my 4R. However, my co-worker has one and after riding in it, NO WAY! It's loud, it rides terrible, there are ZERO amenities in it, he bent an axle and busted a rim, just by hitting a curb (and not that hard). I thought I liked them, but they are not what I expected.

Hell no, I will never buy a jeep.

I owned my 03 4Runner Sport for almost 6 years, wanted a newer car, bought another 4Runner, so no, I don't feel that way sorry

TJ/LJ > JK

Jeeps are fantastic as an OFF road ONLY vehicle. Crawler / Trail Rig.

As for driving on the street......they are Miserable.

Hurry and go see a doctor then get back with us and tell us how you love your 4Runners reliability.
Jeeps require a lot of work constantly.

I felt the same way the other day when I noticed a four door jeep go by me but then I thought of how it is really all looks and how much more refined/stylish, comfortable, dependable my 4th gen is and I just put it out of my head.

One of the reasons I sold my jeep.....

Well, I had a 97 Wrangler that was a lot of fun. Drove it all over the country in the 15 years I owned it.

Here's why I sold it get a 4Runner

1. Driveability - if you go up in the mountains at all, you're going to be struggling to go over 60 mph even flooring it in low gear.

2. I had a family. Your situation is probably different, but my lifestyle changed.

3. Amenities. The '12s are probably vastly different. Mine had no AC, no roll up/down windows etc. It's nice to have a 'real car' again.

4. Driveability. Seriously, try loading one up, even an Unlimited with 2-4 people and some gear and see just how much pep it doesn't have. Especially considering the gas mileage hit you'll take.

Jeeps are cool. Great even. I'll probably get another someday if I decide I want to have a toy for off roading in. I used mine as a daily driver for 15 years. Mine was super reliable. I was picky about maintenance.

Mine was a TJ though….the new ones, I have no idea about reliability.

Wranglers and 4Runners are just different breeds of vehicle.

Love my 4Runner….

I dont know...One of my friends has a jeep (2010 wrangler unlimited) and i ride with him alot. The ride is not harsh at all and driving around town is not a pain I really liked it...

As for maintenence he only does his normal scheduled maintenence and he has no problems with over 30,000 miles.

but he did "blow a rim" (thats what he said i dont know what it really means...)
while offroading.
