6'4" and my hair sometimes brushes the roof, but not to bad. I am used to it since it has happened in almost every vehicle I have owned.

Haven't noticed any slipping with the leather from different types of pants, jeans, suits, sweats, etc. I do have the front seat cushion raised about half way for better thigh support. Maybe when I'm in the passenger seat I slouch a bit because the seat isn't comfortable on long trips.

6'8" and you fit comfortably day to day in a 4th gen 4runner? I struggle a little and I'm "only" 6'3". When my 2 friends ride with me (both are 6'6") they have to ride with their heads cocked to the side due to the low roof and high floor. You must not have the sunroof. I wish I didn't - considering it just broke last night when just sliding it back as normal... oh and a thunderstorm hit about 15 min later.

I'm a tad over 5-11" and with the moonroof if I am wearing a ball cap or something it will sometimes brush the headliner.
Given the option, I would have opted to NOT get the moonroof. After looking for a 4R for 2 months straight within a 150 mile radius, this truck was the best deal so I have learned to live with the low ceiling.

I'm 6' 1" and I think I'm more than comfortable in their with the seat lifted a bit, pushed pretty far back and leaned a good amount. Most of the time my head is probably in line with the back of the front window or the middle pillar between the front and rear doors.
My old roommate who is 6'6" also has an 04 sport edition and he just sits even farther back than I do but seems to be comfortable all the time.
As someone stated before, just lean the seat back a good amount. Its not ghetto to lean it back if you're doin it to feel comfortable...Its only ghetto if you've got it almost flat and are lookin like you a 4 feet tall behind the wheel, haha

I know this thread is old. I just bought an 07. I am 5'10" 230#. My in seam is 30". The driver's seat is too high I can not see traffic signals. The seat was too flat with no thigh support, so I shimmed the front edge. The seat bottom is 3" shorter front to back than my Explorer. If I adjust the seat so I have a comfortable reach on the pedals I cannot reach the steering wheel. Somebody pointed out the possibility of head injuries in a crash due to my head being so close to the roof.
I WAS very excited to get the car. I have been driving junk for a long time. In inherited a little money and splurged on a "good" car. I now have $13K worth of unsafe and uncomfortable trash. I guess I will take the hit and sell it. What the heck it's only the kids' college money.

Seems a little extreme. I'm 6'3 and operate the vehicle fine on a daily basis. To claim your personal seating position deems this vehicle unsafe and uncomfortable trash is a little overkill. Are you sure that you are sitting and have your seat properly where it should be where it is most ergonomically friendly for the driver? I have taken many trips and logged many miles in the vehicle and have never thought of the vehicle as "unsafe trash"?
Definitely opinionated. Frankly I am very upset with myself and a car that is highly regarded.
Iit is clearly made for small people. It is not suited for a full sized tubby American. The seat is like the children's seats at my kids school. It is a scaled down version of a normal car seat. I have owned three VWs and a Mighty may PU. All three had larger seats. The angle of the seat bottom is just weird. IT is so flat as to require muscular tension to keep my knees elevated. I can not see traffic signals without hunching down, the windshield is so low that the roof blocks my view. I can not reach the steering wheel comfortably.
After reading earlier posts here I see others have trouble with their head hitting the roof. If you think that through that could be a safety issue in a crash. If I pivot foreward in my seat, with out moving my hips, my head hits the sun visor area. Well geeze in a front end collision that would plant my head into the intersection of the windshield and roof. That might break my neck. Putting ones face through a windshield ruins the day too.
I am not trying to be a troll. A car is like a suit of clothes. If it does not fit it does not matter how good it looks, how much others like it, or how few repairs it needs. IT will never work out. This vehicle is an ergonomic disaster. I have personaly owned 10 cars and driven hundreds of others. This one is bottom of the barrel ergonomically speaking.
Please choose carefully and be critical before plunking down the cash! Sorry to be such a downer as a new poster here.

Did you test drive it? I'm 6 inches taller than you and have no problems :der:
I tend to keep my seat as high as I can for offroad visibility, and sometimes smack my head, but I can easily lower the seat so that I have several inches of headroom, at the expense of short range visibility.

Jeremy, I see you are 34 years old. I infer you are an outdoors man base on your user name. I would also guess you are in pretty good shape. I was too at your age. I could have driven on a wood plank and been happy at 34. Somewhere around my mid 30s I rode from Rangely CO back to the west coat in the space behind the seat of an old Ford Ranger. Life was good with two nice bucks in the bed. Now in my mid 50s comfort matters. If I feel contorted it causes problems. It is normal, it is also normal to not care when you are young. We have different perspectives.
Yes, I did drive it. It is hard to tell much from a 10-minuet test drive. My impression was that it was different and had no obvious mechanical problems. I figured the ergonomic stuff was a learning curve.
Seriously??? Who would make a car that can not be adjusted to fit an averge-ish sized person. It was not even on my radar screen.
Mine is a base model 2007 2WD. Unless you have a very short torso there is no way you could fit in mine, height wise. I have about 2" space between my head and the head liner. Even if you did fit for height the seat would not go back enough. I have to put the seat all the way back and I have a small butt and short legs.
My seat only moves 1" up and down. I just measured. Mostly it moves on a diagonal. Maybe mine is defective? That could explain why it sat on the car lot for 7-months despite a fair asking price.
After I get rid of it I will still need a car. I will definitely buy an extended test drive next time. The only way to know is to spend some time in the car.

I'm only 5'9", I dont have a real issue except when my 5'2" wife adjusts the seats and I forget and try to jump right in to the drivers side and kill my ribs with the steering wheel....

I don't have an issue and I am 6'3". I lower the seat all the way and lean back but I do that in all cars. Now the passenger seat is a different story since it doesn't move up and down. But usually when I am not driving I am reclined all the way sleeping
You can mod the seat to make it lower if it won't go low enough, but it sounds like you are just setting it too high. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/148032-how-lower-seat-4th-gen.html Of course there is some small risk that it would be less safe in a crash with this mod, but if you do it right I don't think it would be much of a risk.
The problem with the sunroof is that the side of it is centered over my head, so I get less headroom under the lowered headliner than if there was no sunroof. If it could somehow be wider then it would probably help to have a sunroof.
The seat belt and airbags will keep your head from going too far forward. The seat belts have explosive pretensioners that will hold you in place.
With the power seats (at least on the Limited) you can tilt the seat bottom up or down. It looks like the manual seats have a knob to adjust the seat cushion angle. Note that the power seats (at least the leather ones) give you slightly less rear foot room because there is less space under them.
It should move more than that. You probably have to pump the lever a bunch of times (like 20) to move it up/down (it's been a while since I've driven one with manual seats and had to adjust it). The owner's manual is a bit vague on this part.

I'm 6'5 245# and I feel like a free bird in the Gen5 4Runner! Granted, I did come from a 2004 Civic coupe lol. Anyways, I fit just fine. I have always leaned my seat back a bit, compared to my dad who sits at a 90 deg angle back to thighs. They also have the option to raise or lower the seat vertically, and mine is close to lowest setting. :lightsaber: Cheers
