Tap into shark fin roof XM antenna

Has anyone here tapped into the xm antenna and used it as an antenna for another device (such as a 3rd party GPS/xm weather device)?

without going into the details of things, you can't simply tap into an antenna, you would need an RF divider and would loose performance on both receivers. XM and whatever you want to use and a quality matched divider is pricey. you would have to cut and put new RF connectors such as SMA.

It's best to install a new antenna.

What about a new radio, and run a BEGAN wifi with it? I am really considering doing that with all the time I spend on the road. My company already gives me a phone, but data sucks hours to load a email.....

checked it out. the sat radio (XM) and sat-fi would have to be independent.

cop cars don't have 6 antennas on them for nothing ;-)

I want to consolidate to not look like a retard in the city (also it makes me a target with all that comm gear visible), GMRS also runs on the cell network.
