Tapping into factory trans temp sensor

Has anyone ever tapped into the factory transmission temperature sensor and used the signal wire output for their analog trans temp gauge? Currently I have an inline temp sender installed before the cooler. When comparing temperatures from my analog gauge and scan gauge I can see that the temps from the ECU are about 25 degrees warmer than what's showing on my analog gauge (I'm sure I'm losing heat through the lines up to the cooler). I do not want to monitor this temp through a scan gauge constantly, I just want to tap into the factory sensor and steal the signal to hook up to my analog gauge. I cannot seem to find any info on this...

For anyone stumbling across this thread...I found the transmission temp sensor on the TQ outlet line. I checked voltage on the wire and it was receiving a 5 volt power supply. This was an issue for me because my analog gauge sends out a 12 volt signal. I'm not sure if that sensor is self grounded or not, I assume it is which means it would be a 3 wire temperature sensor. If it's not self grounded then it's just a regular 2 wire sensor. According to a schematic on the prodemand website it looks like the signal goes into a converter and changes the signal for the ECM

I just did a search for this...and you're the only thread that showed up. So what gauge are you using?? I have an AutoMeter electric short sweep trans temp.

This is the exact thing I wanted to do, is use the OEM trans temp gauge. The way I was looking at it...the less breaks I have in my trans lines...the less chance I have for them to leak.

So were you able to get this to work? Or because of the different voltages...it won't read it??

I have an Autometer phantom I believe, its an analog gauge too. Once I found out the voltage going to the factory sensor was a 5 volt power supply I said forget it. The Autometer sends out a 12 volt power supply to the sensor. When installing my gauge I read in multiple posts guys suggesting to tap into this factory sensor but it seems that no one has done it.

Well that sucks...sounded like a good idea. Oh well, back to the drawing board...haha!!
