TCMach's Build Thread

So at the moment nothing has changed. I graduated from CSU in december and have started my new job so the runner has been on the back burner.
Where are you working? I work for a MS/DW subcontractor called Spacecon. I was at our Ft. Collins office about a year ago and saw your rig parked next door at some GC's office. Bryan Construction maybe?

Sh*t those lowers look purdy. Good to see you still putting this rig to use and getting out there lots with it. Been a while since I trolled here... lol

They're pretty nice! Definitely aren't going to bend on me that's for sure. Speaking of putting it to use I need to post all my moab pictures from this year. Fishwerks took a lot more video this year. trying out best to get on the level of your stuff hahaha

So I interned for Bryan for about a year while I was at CSU. Since graduating I signed on with FCI Constructors. Right now I'm out at DIA doing some enabling work for the future concourse expansions. I personally haven't worked with you guys before but I've sent a couple bids to Curtis.

Well this is different....

Can't say I ever planned on it but this was too good of a deal to pass up. I have a friend who used to develop turbos for borg warner and he is already trying to get me into trouble.

Yea, sounds like good kind of trouble though haha. Get a bolt on kit going for us guys. Will be following!

I'd love to go underhood. This kit will be a rear mount obviously since it's a complete STS kit but the goal is to figure out if I like the turbo on a crawl rig and learn a lot about the tuning aspects. Eventually will be moving to a stand alone FIC and bigger injectors, maybe a port fueling system, who knows. STS kits dyno at about 300 and 340 at 9psi wherever STS used to be based out of. I'd be happy whatever that translates out to at altitude. Atleast for a couple months. Then I may start gettin wild with it.

We're both putting in hours on the TIG welded trying to get better so who knows. It may be pie cut city in a year or so.

Wow look I updated the first page. Its only been 2 years since the last post on this. Lots of stuff coming up soon, both fun and not so fun:

- eimkeith rear bumper and PCK (already okay'd by the wife (oh yea I got married))
- Valve cover gaskets, ball joints, sway bars, whiteline bushings, rear tundra brake cylinders & MC
-KBS coatings for another round of me vs rusting frame
-Retrofitted headlights with D2S probably
-Winch (lets not get ahead of ourselves here)

For those of you that would like a recap of the last two years. I graduated college and went straight to work for a General Contractor working at Denver International Airport. I bought a Crosstrek and started commuting and the 4Runner started doing a lot of nothing. I made the jump to 37s and 5.29 gears along with a Yukon Grizzly and ARB Air locker (rear and front respectively). In June 2018 we got a new German Shepherd Puppy so he will be making an appearance in these posts. I got married to my girlfriend of 5 years in October of 2018 in Telluride and bought her a new 2018 TRD OffRoad for a daily. In the end, my job was giving me lots of good experience but the commute and the hours were killing me (and the wife) so I started looking elsewhere. Came across a job for Pitkin County and jumped on it. February 2019 we moved to Carbondale and we bought an 85 F250 plow truck because we are mountain people now. My commute has drastically decreased so the Subaru is going bye-bye and I'll be daily driving the 4Runner until I decide what I want to buy next (thinking Honda Africa Twin....)

Geared the rear end myself, stupid? Maybe

Epic update!! What size wheels and backspacing those? And what all did you need to do in the rear to get those 37's to stuff so well?! Bodylift? You rig looks so badass now!

Thanks man. I'm pretty happy to be showing it some love after a couple years of basically beating on it every time I started it.

Wheels are 17x9s with 4.5 BS. Front end has 1.25" spidertrax as well so the front is 3.25 BS total. I wanted to keep the back narrow enough to tuck within the fenders without a lot of fabrication. For some reason I'm attached to my limited flares so all my decisions factor into that. Currently the rear is just hammered in certain areas and the pinch welds in the front of the wheel well are totally removed (50% me 50% rust). Also need to gut the portion of the rear flares that mounts to the door like I did the front. I need to bump it slightly lower or I'm going to rip my gas tank filler cover off one of these days, but it just stuffs so nice right now....

I would imagine that It would be pretty easy to drop the bumps 1/4 to 1/2 inch with 10 dollars in washers and some slightly longer bolts. Or am I wrong and just a little naive? I do agree with you that it looks great right now, but I don't think it would look any different with 1/2 inch less stuff.

I have a soft spot for F250 plow trucks. My dad has a Red 80's F250 Ranger with a plow on it and I love that truck.

This one is a family piece as well. Charissa's grandparents owned it since the 90s and used it on their 160 acres up in Salida. They moved now and don't need it anymore so we bought it from them. Its the truck she learned to drive on and what not so its nice to keep it in the family.

Nah you could do it. In my world its going to take some more measuring. I already have the sonoran steel bump extensions but those poly bumps are pretty shot after 6 years of wheeling and I would like to swap to Durobumps ( Plastics guy ) but I need to do some measuring to see if those lengths match up to my needs.

delete the filler cover and keep stuffing it?

Its possible. I was rubbing hard on the wings of my old back bumper so I was hesitant to try and continue the quest for uptravel, but hopefully I wont have that issue with the next bumper :spy:

we'll see soon.. latest update was "a couple of days or so"..

forgive me for jumping in here. how did you wind up squeezing the 37's? adjusted the kings for height? i'm in the middle of building a 98 for 35's as we speak...

I actually dropped them down honestly. Probably only 2" of suspension lift give or take. I did add a 1" BL in order to make the rear end livable and the front easier to tub. Then just cut the firewall apart.
