TE Parts Needed to Convert SR5/Limited Exterior

So i'm on the same boat but im converting my 2011 to lets just say TRDpro front bumper and grill. I spoke to someone who has successfully done it. He said its all basic bolt ons. Once I get this done i will make a write up on it.

I recently sold my “16 limited bumper to someone who has a ‘10. He wanted to update the look of a newer limited.

I also updated my ‘16 limited to the current TRD look. Any older 5th gen can be updated if you put some time and resources to it.

I really wanted to get the ‘20 TRD pro but opted to getting a used one and mod it [emoji2957]

SR5 to Trail Edition 2010-2013

First and foremost, thanks to harper7 for creating such a valuable thread and uploading the "original list back in the day" and subsequently Snooperstyle and kevschu for continuing to support it with additional photos and information (part numbers) on how to do this.:nicethread:

I have been wanting to do this mod on my salsa red 2010 runner but never really had a justification. I special ordered it (really shows as i see very few in this color scheme) this runner from the dealer (hence from japan) and has now been with me for 10 years! The truck has been on multiple off-road adventures and has given me no hassles!!- (i know i am preaching to the choir here).

I think its Time to do it!!! :nod:

however i do have some fundamental questions before i order parts:

(Assume- In principle i am OK with keeping the original SR5 red-colored flares even though they will not match the bare plastic ones in the TE, i have seen some pics here and it looks quite cool if you ask me)


1. It seems clear that one of the hardest aspects of this mod is dealing with the need to change out the front inner fender liners. Given this, (i have looked in quite some detail at my car and other TE's ) it is not clear whether the original SR5 fender flares will match up with the new TE liners??? Could some one here confirm or deny this? - this would allow me to keep the SR5 flares.

2. Fundamentally, are the TE inner liners providing structural support to the TE bumper cover? or not? In Snooperstyle's thread

there is clear indication that a metal bracket (in the SR5) needs to be bent in order to enable it to mount the new TE bumper cover (is this to avoid buying a different bracket specific to the TE??). This also appears to hold the liner....so would it be possible to simply cut the SR5 inner liners -in place (so they don't protrude-and voiding the need to buy liners and remove the fender flares ), bend the bracket as shown in the thread and mount the bumper cover...or is the TE liner so different that it absolutely requires it??

in a nutshell: how feasible is it to keep the original SR5 front inner liners and mount the TE bumper cover- assuming you are ok with keeping the original colored flares?

3. My next biggest concern is the multiple clips/retainers etc.... if i do manage to keep my original flares.. does any one have a list of the clips and retainers needed for the liners and bumper covers...and such??? (i.e. not including the flare stuff which i am having a hard time decoupling these items

I have a 2011 Limited stock. Keeping this thread saved just in case. But I may just plastidip/paint the chrome parts instead, and maybe swap in some TE smoke gray headlights.

I have a canadian 2011 sr5 so a lot of the rocker panel, fender flares etc. are the Trail Edition trim, so I feel like I would only need to purchase the TE front bumper and valence and a **** ton of clips.....But just want to make sure before I am halfway to having the bumper off and figure out I need a dozen more parts lol

Hate to bump an old thread but what are you doing here? I'm afraid my bodyshop didn't do something here right when replacing this rail and it pertains to right there it's lose and I'm sure you have to do something to get this to engage and stay in that square hole. Thanks!
