Teach me, oh wise ones, about HIDs

I finally ordered mine today. I am driving up to Asheville, NC for Thanksgiving so I am hoping they come in before then and that I can get them installed before the trip.

For those of you that have used the DDM kits, how long of an install time? Any step by step instructions?

It's pretty easy. I would say no more than an hour.

Which kit did you go with?
 
All I can say is make sure you sand the ground donw pretty good and pick up a few small self tapping screws (in case you drop it) for the passenger side's ground. Otherwise its pretty much plug n play :cheers:

I went with the DDM Raptor, 35w, 6000k with HI/LO. My wife always complains that my headlights suck...I will take some before and after pics since most don't. I think that will help a lot of people pull the trigger on these faster or decide against them (yeah right)
 
Piperoo, I am getting the same kit as you are, as soon as I can get the ANZO crystal black housings. I dont care for modding my lights into the projectors.
Any wire up or install pix you can get would be awesome!
 
Well, I will do my best with pics etc...my wife is a photographer so maybe I can talk her into archiving the process. :whip2:
 
My lights are on the FedEx truck for delivery!

I am going to take some before pics tonight....take some pics of the lights head on, take pics of lights against a wall, and take pics against some woods and also a field. These will be the before pics. Might not be able to get my 'after' pics until this weekend..but I will post them all at the same time.
 
Just got them installed. Install was a breeze and it was my first time doing this. DDM has an install guide that makes it really easy...you can download it from their website. For that reason I did not take pics during the install. Took me about an hour.

Notes: I had to trim the inner lip of the weather protector rubber grommet in order to get the actual light to lock into the metal shield. Was really easy...just cut it with some wire cutters. I had to run my ground wire for the passenger side headlight back to the other side which was nothing. I wire tied the wires from the battery, etc over the top of the engine and wire tied all of them.

I will get some pics Sunday night of them in action and post the before/after pics with the OEM bulbs and the DDM bulbs.

hey do you guys know how often DDM has sales? Right now there selling the raptor kit for $25 but if you want the high low its an extra $20. still a smoking deal and even though im a poor pathetic college student im thinking about pullin out the plastic... mmmm????

I don't think they ever have deals. It would be hard to have a sale on something that cheap.

We should have all done a group buy.
 
haha no kidding. Gosh it seems like everyone on the forum has HID's ive been wanting them for a while now, im trying to be good and not use the credit card but dang thats a killer deal... how much are they normally?

The DDM ones? They've been that price for a while. I think they started out at $40 about a year ago.
 
oh ok did you pay 40 for the hi/lo kit? i cant remember last time i looked i think it was like 60 for the hi/lo. and now they gotta sell it for $45 :ybrick: i hate good marketing haha
