temp gauge pegs full hot

Hey guys, hope someone can help. I tried searching and did not find anything related specifically...

Backstory:
2001 4runner
Had the VSC TRAC ABS light on, speedo not working problem. Swapped in another ABS computer under the dash and all is working perfect again except the temp needle pegs to hot when you turn the ignition on.
Is there a sequence to swap the computers or a way to reset the gauge? I am kind of stumped.
It was working fine before I swapped the computers. I did not think the temp gauge was tied to the ABS computer or is it? Maybe the new computer has an issue then?

A bad ground or no ground. Retrace is your best bet.

thats strange because the gauge is not hooked to the ecu. our trucks have 2 sensors one for the ecu which is upfront by the thermostat (IIRC) and the other is behind the intake manifold by the fire wall [MENTION=92884]snivilous[/MENTION] know.

Yeah I did not think the temp gauge circuit would have anything to do with the abs computer either. That is what is baffling. I did have the cluster out before the swap to make sure all the connections were good there. I am going to pull it again and recheck. It was working normal after I put it all back though. I will check the 2 sensor plug ins as well.

It was nice to have all the Christmas lights on the dash off finally though and the speedo working. Lol

Fixed. Pulled the cluster again and found a plug with a couple of prongs not making contact so I fixed them and everything is back 100% now. I guess i pushed them down when I was probing the wires trying to trace the ABS/VSC/TRAC issue.
